Darkness was all she could see before her. The moon and stars dared not show themselves. Thunder roared in the distance, followed by a bright flash. Rain was on its way to cleanse the earth once more. Kaine sat atop an old stone, which seemed to be shaped like a wall of some sort. Either way she did not care. The blonde female had just come from an easy yet difficult assignment. She had investigated some unusual activity in the fields to the east of her position.
Though she could see nothing she scanned the land behind and in front of her. She may have been in abandoned terra but chances were that there were creatures still roaming the area. Kaine relaxed slightly, sensing nothing at the present moment. She closed her sapphire eyes and listened to the noises around her.

Ivory slipped through the darkness as silent as one of its own shadows. Her face was grim, her blue-green eyes empty except with an acknowledgment of the coming storm. She could smell the scent of rain already and flicked her eyes to the heavens above before closing them in a silent prayer as the blood began to be washed from her skin, along with the scent of which they may be following her with. Blasted beasts.

Footsteps. Kaine rose to a quick crouch and once again scanned her surroundings. Was it just her imagination or was something coming this way? Kaine leapt to the ground, drawing her bow and arrow as she did so. Straining her eyes and ears she heard and saw nothing. 'Calm yourself, it's nothing...' Kaine reasoned, lowering her weapon.

Rebeka had heard of the ruins of Gorlan. She'd never visited the site before, though, and wondered why the shadows had commanded sh go there. Her pitch black cloak hid her from all but the trained eye as she slowly slunk to the wall of the ruined castle. Beka could see no one as she looked over the low rising wall. No one there, no one to kill, no reason for the shadows to make her come.

Now she knew there was something out in the forest. She raised her weapon and strained her eyes. A faint blackened outline slowly crept across the tree line. One wrong move and it would have an arrow through its head.

Ivory stopped by the ruins, not because she was drenched or cold, but of the sensation that she wasn't alone. She slid further into the shadows, her eyes continously scanning around her in an attempt to find her opponents. Her hand slid to her waist where she eased out a dagger. Her back was now pressed against a wall so no one could sneak up behind her and she waited, watching for either danger and hoped the beasts wouldn't catch her scent yet.

Beka had thought the shadows were wrong. They weren't. They never were. She wasn't alone. There was someone, or something out here that she might kill. She pulled out her daggers, each a foot and a half long and slightly curved, deadly weapons of assassination. Each blade was properly cared for and sharpened and cleaned daily, or after each contract. Beka checked now to make sure there were no imperfections that might hurt her chances of succeeding. There were none. Beka took very good care of her killing equipment.

James stood looking in on the woman. She pulled out a long knife. James decided to watch. If things got out of hand, he would interfere. James had been tasked to things like this for a while. Bandits and rouges mostly, but this one looked to be interesting.

Her sensitive ears picked up multiple clicks. Two from in front of her and one to her left. Kaine stepped back and replaced her own weapon. Then, as silently as she could, she crept behind the ruins to her right. She would not be pinned between to enemies. Kaine reached the last large ruin and drew two short swords. From her position she could easily see the creature that threatened her, she could also see the glint of blades. Fearlessly, and stupidly, the blonde female stepped from her cover, still keeping to the shadows.

Not beasts. Or rather, not that kind of beast. They didn't crash a path to find her in their frenzy for blood nor did they curse their rage at having been decieved for a little longer. They were, she searched for a word but managed only to come up with 'different'. She'd lived alone to long. That she knew, but not for a moment would she regret it. Contact with others only brought pain. Thankfully her thoughts were brought into a sharp focus before they could wonder back into her past by the sound of someone within the crumbled walls of the ruins. Her eyes narrowed as she mad eout the blurry form of that someone through the sheets of rain. She could make out neither the gender nor any other feature, but the glint of two swords were umistakable and her mind clicked over to survival instinct. Her knife arced through the air hardly three paces in front of her as she charged the stranger. Even as she did so, her right hand moved to slid yet another knife from its sheath.

Beka heard more sounds through the pouring rain. Her eyes could not catch the movement but her eards did. She growled and could no longer wait. Beka burst from her hiding place with a cry of rage. She ran to the first place she had heard the sound. Towards a Ranger woman sitting on a wall, looking wary of visitors. Beka screamed her fevered battle cry and jumped upon the wall, brandishing her daggers.

[[No idea who you're attacking Nyla so yeah]]
A figure on her six charged her. Kaine had little time to think before her swords met with the blades of her supposed enemy. She growled and brought her left sword up in an underhand swipe, hoping to score her blade across the female's legs.

Ivory twisted and jumped back at the flash of steel, barily saving her legs from being harshly removed. Even so, her blood seeped out through a slight cut on her left leg. She ignored the sharp pain that shot up through her body as her foot once again touched the ground. The locking of her jaw was her only sign of pain and that quickly disappeared. She kept her distance, acknowledging the slight advantage her enemy had through her weapons. Ivory's eyes darted to where her first dagger lay amongst the ruins before landing back on her opponent. Her daggers hardly had the reach of the swords, but with two of them she'd at least have a chance of blocking the attacks. Slowly, she began to circle to her left.

She had disarmed her enemy. With a slight smile she began circling aswell."State your name and purpose." Kaine said firmly. For all she could know she could've been attacked by some lord or assassin. Rather it be a fellow Ranger. Kaine let her eyes settle on the glint of metal in her attacker's hands.

She was too paranoid to give her real name or the whole of her purpose, but there was something about the woman before her that she offered up slight information. "I'm keeping myself alive." As she answered, she dived to the ground, rolling as her hand grapsed the hilt of her other knife, and came back upon her feet.
