Mallues Foxhorn walked down the streets, cane swinging out before him. He'd gotten rid of Avvi well enough (OOC: and no he's not really implying that he's killed her since she hasn't replied back) and was now once again alone. He still played the blind man though, but only because people seemed less suspicious of him that way.
They talked more around those that they thought illiterate and though Malleus was far from that, he was blind and thus seen as such in most people's eyes. Good thing only a select few knew that he wasn't helpless even if he was blind. He'd learned early on in his life to 'open up' his other senses past the average. Placing people through sounds was one of those skills. Another was expanding his sense of smell. Everyone he learned, how their own scent. Some smelled of civilization, others smelled of the woods. Though it wasn't as reliable as placing them through their voice, it helped the elimination process with those voices that were more similar than different.
He felt with his cane though he 'saw' with his ears and nose, and made his way into the nearest tavern. He brought his drink to a back table and listened to the chatter, placing where objects and people were as he did. His memory was fantasical and soon he had the whole room mapped out to his liking.
Once that was accomplished, he listened more to the words than the actual sounds, and though his physical appearance showed nothing, he tensed at his name. He knew neither the voice and in here, couldn't make out their scent, so was doubly on guard. He'd spent half his time running from people it seemed and he frowned into his cup, even as his lips twitched in a smile.
He'd wait in here and listen some more he decided before making his back to the Family. After of course, he finished his business in Araluen. He had someone to take care of before he went and would finish his business, with or without being tracked by someone so close.

James walked the streets of Arualen, wondering what to do. He was scheduled to go back to Caraway soon, but he could enjoy a moment in the capital, couldn't he. He walked to the local tavern, thinking that he could find something to do there.
As James ordered a drink,he saw a blind man in the corner, listening to the words about him. James resolved to keep an eye on him....

Malleus shifted uncomfortably as he felt another's eyes on him. Because of his blindness, he'd taken notice of his instincts, counting on them to ensure part of his safety. He wondered briefly if he should get up and leave, but thought better of it; best to let him make the first move unless there was more than one person. He frowned at that thought, wondering if it was true.
It wouldn’t be a shock if it was, but it’d sure as heck be a problem. Especially if Roan had hired them.

Monkuta entered the tavern slowly, taking notice of every person in the room. Sensing no immediate threat, he cautiously moved to a seat near Malleus and sat down. He looked around the room, pulled his hood up and leaned back, watching events unfold in silence. He kept a special awareness in the corner of his vision for the blind man, feeling an aura of unease around him. He stroked his throwing dagger, aware of the several anonymous bar goers that flinched when he arrived. He allowed himself a quiet chuckle, amused at their fear.

Malleus tensed inwardly at the sound of footsteps coming toward him. The owner took a seat next to him and his instincts screamed DANGER at him. Acting completely on them, he lunged to his feet after dropping the right amount of coins to pay the bill, and headed for the door. His cane swung widely about him, but he didn’t really need it, having memorized the layout of the tavern. He just wanted them to be off guard if they followed him. He wanted to think that he was really blind and helpless. And then he would strike.
He stepped into the rays of sunshine, but didn’t stop to take a breather, turning sharply to the left. He rounded the corner toward the back of the tavern (this way, you guys can hear from inside) and careened into a stranger.
What the-!? How many were there for crying out loud? His mind screamed in questioning as he fell to the ground, banging into a dozen or so crates along the way. He cursed at the deafening nose and hurried to his feet. He would’ve swung his cane at his attacker, but he couldn’t hear him for all the nose he’d made and so once he regain his footing, he put his back to the wall and held up his cane as if blocking an attack. Once the man moved he would easily be able to hear him.

Monkuta gasped and ducked as the end of the blind man's cane came soaring towards his head. When he looked up, the man was halfway to the exit. He thinks I'm a threat, which means he's expecting a threat... Worth investigating. He quickly stood and followed after Mallues, his long cloak and swift movements creating the illusion that he was gliding across the floor of the tavern. When he emerged into daylight, Monkuta did not see the blind man, but he heard a loud crashing noise around the corner. He half walked, half jogged towards the source and rounded the corner to find the man backed into the wall, pointing his cane at a stranger.
"Blind man? What troubles you?" questioned Monkuta as he cautiously stepped closer to Mallues, one hand on his saxe-knife for safety.

Delphi was running back home when she bumped into a blind man. "Watch your way, mister!" She shouted rudely. Then she regretted it. The blind man was no 'ordinary' blind man. There was something in his eyes that made her shiver when she thought about it.

"Watch your way, mister!"
He couldn’t have helped but hear the words as he’d fallen and his eyes had hardened, not in anger (though he felt that too), but in amusement.
He was blind, he couldn’t watch his way.
His amusement had fallen quickly though as he realized that he was being taunted. (OOC: this is just what he thinks, I’m not controlling your characters) His attacker was teasing him because of his blindness. He’d risen angry, cane extended and waiting for him to move or speak again. He hadn’t been able to place his attacker during his fall, but he would now.
"Blind man? What troubles you?"
Malleus shifted his weight with a curse, turning his body to face the new voice, but keeping his back still firmly to the wall. Knowing that he wouldn’t survive long if they decided to press him up against it, he lunged at the new voice with his cane. He swung it low, aiming for the lower part of the legs of his foe. This way, if they had a knife, they wouldn’t be able to block it without bending down and producing many openings on their body.

Delphi was shocked when the cane came up. She was born in a rich family and her parents had never hit her before. She was a bit spoiled. Fine. A lot spoiled, spoiled rotten in fact. [OOC:I can't believe that I can birdwalk in one post. Getting back to the topic...] However the blind man turned his cloudless sight onto another man and hit him.

Monkuta leaped over the cane, surprised by the old man's speed. Without thinking, he unsheathed his saxe-knife and advanced in one lunging movement towards the man, bringing the blade to his neck. "I hope I don't need to tell you what the situation looks like right now. Perhaps we should move this to a less conspicuous setting." He spared a glance behind him, noticing the various onlookers they had gained.

Mallues muttered a curse in his mind as the sharp point of a dagger pressed against the skin of his neck. Though he'd learned to use his senses, he'd also learned that none of them were as helpful as his eyes. Had he still been able to see, he wouldn't be in this current situation, he would've saw the knife and used a different tactic.
"I hope I don't need to tell you what the situation looks like right now. Perhaps we should move this to a less conspicuous setting."
Malleus glared at him, or tried to since it was kind of a hard thing to do since his eyes had been severly burned as a child. He hated not having a choice, but he loved his life more so he gave the smallest of nods in agreement.

"Good. I know a place." Monkuta removed the knife from the man's neck, but kept it drawn and used his other hand to grab Mallues' collar. He looked at Delphi, examining her and half-expecting her to ask to come along, but he didn't wait for her to speak. He half led, half dragged the blind man down the street until they reached a large building to which Monkuta opened the door and swiftly entered, closing the entrance behind him. He released Mallues. "Who are you and why are you so hostile to everyone who comes near you?

"Who are you and why are you so hostile to everyone who comes near you?"
What the- Malleus was at a lost at the man's words. Why kind of question wasthat?
Malleus gave a quick twist of his wrist holding his cane in habit as he searched for a reason why he'd been asked such a question. The man obviously knew...
Unless. Unless he had a little trouble in the head. Probably the later, but that didn't make him any less dangerous he decided. Mental or no, he knew how to use a knife. And so did he, if he could just take it from him...
But dang it! He couldn't see his hands. He knew where the man was, but he couldn't see the limbs of his body. Was he standing with his arms at his side? Or were they crossed over his chest? He knew which hand was holding the knife, unless he'd switched once he'd released him, but he didn't know where that hand was.
Frustrated, but unable to show it because of his training, he gave another twist of his wrist and waited for a chance to strike. But first, he needed to get the man more comfortable, so he answered the question with a shrug, "I am blind if you haven't noticed, though I believe you hinted that you knew earlier, so I'm clearly lost at your question." He'd never been able to be serious like Teresa, him and Galen both.

Monkuta raised a curious brow. "Being blind is no excuse to go around jabbing people with blunt objects." He started circling around Mallues, doubling back and forth, changing his path. He hoped that disorienting the man's only useful remaining sense might loosen his lips a little. He kept his saxe-knife behind his back, not wanting the man to surprise him and steal it. "Tell me your name."

Jabbing people with blunt objects? For one, that wasn't a jab, it was a swipe.
Now he was certain that this person was mentally ill. No one sent after him would've made a mistake like that, not that it was even much of a mistake, but still. He didn't plan on underestimating him though so kept his unknown opponent with everyone else's profile that had dared to come after him.
His latest thought proved correct as the voice changed direction. And then again as the man circled him. Malleus started to turn with him, but stopped when he kept switching directions and throwing him off. His best bet was to just stand still and let his ears pick up on anything useful. He hadn't met many people who could really control the pitches of their voice so where their feelings didn't leak out with it. It'd saved his life a good many times so he was far from complaining about it. He just didn't like to be circled in random directions.
"Tell me your name."
Malleus did turn this time, using his ears to guide him in his direction. What was with this guy? And who was the idiot responsible for paying him? Didn't they know that you couldn't send out an assassin or mercenary without at least giving him/her their targets name? What if they accidentally attacked the wrong person?
He wondered...
But could it work?
"Why should I?" he demanded, stalling for time as he deepened the details of his budding plan. "I don't know yours after all and I'm blind. So that gives me two disadvantages over yours. I win, you go first."
