Nocul nodded with complete enthusiasm, shaking the rest of the dirt from his hair. "Honest. Straight as an arrow. A well-made arrow. Not the kind that I used to make when I was younger. But the kind my dad made. He used to be a fletcher you know. Made the best arrows around. But he's dead now. I could always take up that business. It was a nice straight business." His voice was a whispered plea as he begged, "Just let me out of here."

Monkuta smiled, reaching into the pit and grabbing the man's arms, pulling him up and out.
"There we are," he said, seemingly happy, though it was not the case. His mind was onto other things. "Go to town and stay there. Your new name is... Leonard Freckles." He thought the name fit the man. He did, after all, have a face covered in the little red dots. he patted Nocul on the shoulders and completed his words with, "Oh, and I'll be checking up on you, so don't leave, or I'll be after you." The last five words were quite ominous. "Now get out of here."

He used his grip on Nocul to shove him North, the direction he would be walking to get back to town. Then he turned to Lea. A quick glance to make sure that she was ready and then he was done. Without a word, he was off running in the direction that Nocul had indicated. They would rescue Marina and no one would get in their way.

And Shepherds we shall be; For thee, my Lord, for thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand. Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee; And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti.

Lea slinked around the edge of the pit as Monkuta was interrogating the man, a knife spinning across her fingers just to add a bit of a reminder that this Nocul could very well die by her hand at any moment.

She undid the snare as she passed by it, not wanting any innocent person to get caught in it. She wondered how many other traps were in this grassy area. They would likely have to send someone from town to disarm the traps if they got the chance. If not, someone was going to get hurt eventually. But first they had to find Josh, no Marina, before it was too late. If the girl was being sent to fight in some arena, Lea didn't think she would last long.

Lea nodded back to Monkuta, the man did appear paniced enough to be telling the truth, though she thought the ranger was taking a huge chance in letting him go. What if there were more of them around? Then she dismissed that thought. If there were more of these slave traders around, they would have appeared by now.

"Oh, and I'll be checking up on you, so don't leave, or I'll be after you." The last five words were quite ominous. "Now get out of here." Monkuta told Nocul.

Lea smiled her special "wicked" smile at Nocul, "and if I hear of you going back to slave trading, I will hunt you down and stick a knife in your guts so you can endure a long painful death." She winked at him. "I am not a ranger. I don't operate under their moral code. So don't think I will have any qualms about killing you."

Once Nocul had left, Lea followed after Monkuta at a run, one arm clutching her aching stomach, trying to stop the bleeding.

Nocul barely bit back a shriek at her threat, it coming out in a kind of muffled whimper. As soon as he finished he streaked off back toward town, the need to go so hard in his stomach that he even forgot to loot the base. He'd make a fresh start indeed with nothing but the clothes upon his back.

Marina's head screamed as she struggled to open her eyes, but she did so anyways. Her memory came drifting back at intervals and once she got the gist of it, she bolted up...and slammed her head into something above her. She dropped back down like a sack of potatoes [OOC: anyone know how they got that saying anyways? Srry, been buggin' me] even as a man's silhoutte was highlighted above her.

Her eyes were watering from the previous blow and her head was hammering so it took her a little time to figure out that he was one of the bandits that had attacked them. After realizing that, she began to have enough focus to look around her, seeing that she was lying down on some sort of boat and the thing she'd just hit was...n't there. She frowned, but it hurt too much to think and she figured she'd figure it out later. But first, she had more pressing matters too attend too.

"Who the hell are you?"

A twisted grin was the last thing she saw before she passed once again into oblivion.

[We starting in another thread or do you two still have stuff to finish up here?]
