((OOC: takes place after events in Book one))
King Duncan is insane. Emily thought, sourly as she hid behind a boulder, her bow at ready position, and arrow nocked onto the string. Her cowl covered her reddish-blonde hair and black eyes, and she looked around the boulder she was hiding behind. If she had had any choose in the matter, she wouldn't be here. She be in her own Fief-Araluen Fief, no less-getting the army ready for the inevitable war with her father. But, no. Duncan had assigned her to come spy on the enemy. She knew that Morgarath would never trust her, not after she had ran away with the Rangers. She smiled smally and she left her hiding place to sneak around some more.
An hour later, she looked up at the towering walls of Morgarath's castle and sighed. He probably already knows I'm here. She thought again, getting ready to climb the walls.

She climbed the wall slowly, her stomach clenching with every inch that passed by. She paused to look below her for a moment and had to bite her lip to keep from gasping. Wargals stood under her, not looking up, but looking around the wall, as if they knew she was there. She froze on the wall and waited until they ran away from the wall, their wordless chant fading into the distance. As she continued to climb, she thought about what she was supposed to find and report to the king and his commanders. She looked around at the top of the wall, and, seeing no one, climbed onto the battlements. She paused to get her bearings . Being on solid ground felt different than climbing , she thought, and was happy that she wasn't doing that anymore. She walked along the battlement, fully confident that she looked more like her father than her mother. True, she wasn't as tall as tall as her father, but she was lanky and had the same black eyes. Her's, she had come to believe over the years, had a better sparkle to them, unlike Morgarath's cold pitiless ones that she had grown to fear. She remembered her mission once more. She was supposed to be spying on her father, but all thoughts of that left as quickly as they came. No, she was not going to spy on her dad. Nor was she going be the submissive daughter anymore. She had something to do, and no one was going to stop her.
And for the first time in her life, Emily Wilson's eyes seemed to have the same dead look as her father.

Adonis stood on top of one the towers, his body still as a board as he watched Emily climb the castle. He stayed silent and slowly shifted his position before he leaped down and landed a few feet in front of Emily, his head lowered. Slowly, he looked up and his eyes twinkled, though his expression couldn't be seen beneath his scarf. "Well, well, well, what do we have here? A little rat?" he asked. A soft breeze blew, making his hair and scarf wave in the wind.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? A little rat?" he asked.
Emily backed off, pulling her bow off her shoulder, and making an arrow ready on its string. "Who are you?" she asked. "You're not supposed to be here..."

"Actually, I think it's the other way around," he said, grabbing a few blades that had been stashed on his hips.

Emily glanced around, before aiming at the man. "I'm the Baron's daughter. I should be allowed here." Emily snapped.

He tipped his head. "What Baron? I assume your country has a lot of Barons. You'll have to be more specific than that." He didn't seem like he was going to attack, but he had his guard up in case she shot at him.

"Morgarath." Emily said. "I'm sure you know him." She narrowed her eyes, waiting for an attack to come.

"Oh yes, I'm actually employed to him right now," he said.

"Interesting..." she replied, sarcastically. "I was here to have a talk with him."

"Hmm...I don't think you are. Otherwise, why would sneak onto his castle and then try to shoot me. Not that I blame you for wanting to shoot me."

Emily stared at him, then looked at her bow. "I"ve come to do what I should have done years ago." She said. "I don't want to hurt you."

"And what's that? Kill Morgarath? I'm sorry, but I can't allow that, because I'm under contract," he said before he flung some of his knives at her.

Emily turned to dodge the knife, then fired the arrow on her bowstring at him. She had three more arrows in the air in the pace of heartbeats.
She said, "I don't want to fight you. I was ordered to kill him."

He ducked, dodging her attack. "I can tell, but I'm ordered to protect him, despite how I feel about him. Failure is not an option for me," he said.
