Ryills clucked at Frank, she was amazed by the way Emily's horse responded. Impressive. Frank lumbered behind after Spirit, tossing his head. She slowed down Frank next to Emily, unfortuently, she need to look down on the ranger on her horse, that
"Why is your horse so small? I mean, she doesn't look like much, I don't mean offense, I thought Rangers rode horses like the battleschool knights ride." Ryills said slightly quickly and then took a deep breath after playing with Franks mane and then look at Emily, her face full of curiosity.

Emily laughed and looked up at the apprentice. "They'll run any of those fancy battle horses to the ground." She said. "And don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what your here for, after all."

"Just let me know if I'm annoying you with my questions." Ryills said giving a grin and relaxing a bit more, Emily was a likable character.
"So when you say they 'run em fancy battle horses in the ground' what do you mean by that? What makes them so different then the other horses?"

"For one," Emily said, patting Spirit's neck. "Our horses are trained to be able to move quicker, since we Rangers happen to run into trouble more than a mounted knight. Which means they have more endurance than your run of the mill battle horse. And secondly, don't worry. I'm used to it."

Ryills nodded, "it would make sense, you guys travel a lot, take care of things around the kingdom, make sure everything is in order. Like the people who work behind the scenes." smiling she said, "Thats cool, Frank here I don't think has a agliity or speed your girl does but he does make up by being a good messenger horse. I think." she laughed slightly.
"So are you a full fledged Ranger? or how does it work??"

Emily shrugged. "Well, it's really a long story, and I'd doubt you'd know about anyone in it, besides maybe Halt. But yes, I'm a full fledged Ranger. Silver oakleaf and all." She laughed. "And its ok, laugh." She looked at Spirit for a moment, a frown crossing her face. "I guess we have time to kill. Do you want to hear the story?"

"Wow..I'm talking and riding with a real Ranger, this is so..cool. You are totally different than what I imagined!" her voiced raised up a few octaves in excitement. Looking at Emily excitedly she then added, "Halt? I sorta know him, Pauline talks about him sometimes, wait is that the small Ranger who visits Pauline? I've totally seen him and heard about him though. He brought back the Ranger Corps right? and helped King Ducan back on the throne?" Ryills remembered some of the history of Araluen, and Halt had a major role in it.

Emily nodded slowly. It was time to teach. "Do you know who they were fighting against?" She asked, scanning the tree line for a moment. "And thanks. I never usually get that!"

"Moragarth and his forces against King Ducan, Morgarath used to be Baron of Gorlan Fief, becoming annoyed with his poistion he attacked King Ducan with these bear-like creatures called Worgels? no wait, wogral..wo..we...wro.." she sighed, it was on the tip of her tounge and, dang, she lost it, "Bear-like creature thingys that attacked the kings army and nearly destroyed the kings army but then they got defeated when a Calvary came up behind the creatures and scattered them. Moragarth then fled to the mountains of night and rain..wait..rain and night. Mountains of Rain and Night" Ryills smiled triumpantly, at least some of her reading of the history paid off.
She looked at Emily, "Was that sorta right?" she waited for approval from Emily. Half of it must of been right..

Emily nodded. "Good! That's a wonderful job!" She said, smiling. "And the bear-like creature thingies are called Wargals." She looked up again at the apprentice. "But, there is one thing they never told you-unless they did, or you guessed already." Emily said. She waited for Ryills' answer.

Ryills snapped her fingers, "Yes Wargals, thats what they were called, Worgels...I guess it was sorta close." she muttered the last part. 'But, there is one thing they never told you-unless they did, or you guessed already,,' Ryills pondered the words, "wait, I do remember, they never told in the books who lead the Calvary to defeat the Wargals..." Ryills pondered a bit and then it clicked, "NO WAY." she said triumphantly, "How did I not get 1 and 1" She looked at Emily, "It was Halt that lead it right? Thats why he is so legendary and well respected?!" She shook her head, "How did that not click for me all these years, wow my brain must be slow."

Emily shook her head and laughed. "Yes, he did. Hmm, I thought they said something about..." She paused. "What exactly did the books say about Morgarath, in your own words?" She asked.

Emily shook her head and laughed. "Yes, he did. Hmm, I thought they said something about..." She paused. "What exactly did the books say about Morgarath, in your own words?" She asked.
"Well, want a full history on what I remember, he was Baron of Gorgan Fief and made sure the Ducan, had little to no infuence in court and tucked him away from the rest of Araluen. Some books say he wanted power, other say he was always pushed into launching an attack against Ducan, which I find is stupid. Really stupid. My personal opinion, Morgarath was ruthless and cruel, to his knights and subjects, he was also very clever. His plan would of went through if it wasn't for the surprise attack lead by Halt..." Ryills paused in mid sentence.. "Does this tie into how the Ranger Corps were re founded? and I feel like I haven't answered your question correctly"

"Well, they always forget to mention one thing..." Emily paused. "He really was a cruel and pitiless man. I have no clue whether he wanted power, or just to be royal, but it sure costed me a lot." She paused. "So, to answer you about answering my question right or wrong, you were on the right track. It was my fault. My question should have been what did the books say about his private life, if anything at all?" Emily wanted Ryills to figure this out on her own. She was nervous about what the apprentice would think.

Ryills thought for a while before responding, "They didn't say much, only that Morgath had no values in life, it never mentions about his family or where he grew up, only that he was Baron and didn't care much about his fief, only wanted power. One book did say that his eyes looked 'empty' and he sorta had a vulture like appearance. But from what I read and gathered, you were right on one thing, he was cruel and pitiless man, one intent on power and becoming king is never a people person, or doesn't care about his subjects." Ryills shrugged, "Glad I will never have to meet him, I think I would freeze up."
She paused, "How did it cost you a lot?"
