Captured? Monkuta was on the trail. He wouldn't lose Marina. He didn't want to know what would Badger would to him if they ever met again if he did. As he ran, he stringed his bow. It was a messy job, but it would do for now. He just had to catch up. He made his way up the hill as quickly as he could, furrowing his brow as they disappeared over the top. This would be his first and maybe last chance. He knocked an arrow, practically leaping the last couple feet over the threshold of the incline. Training took over. In less than three seconds, four arrows had been launched from his bow. The first missed. The second hit the carrier in the arm. It didn't stop him. The third hit him in the back and he fell, dropping Marina. She rolled a few feet away and the fourth arrow barely missed her. He sprinted down the remainder of the incline and knelt over Marina, examining her head for any bleeding or indents. Nothing. He let out a tense breath and stood. He turned to tell Lea to come to them, but before a word left his mouth, something hit him in the side of the head, knocking him unconscious. He rolled down the rest of the hill and fell into the stream at the bottom. With the combined weight of all of his possessions, he sunk to the bottom like a rock.

Diablo mutterd a curse as one fell into the river. Merchandise didn't come cheap. He grabbed one of his men and ordered him to jump in after him while he grabbed the girl. The remaining four men would go after the woman. He'd get a high sum for them, especially the ranger. The woman had surprised him with her fighting techniques and he figured he could get a hefty price for her two. The crowd loved those that drew more blood. Who knows. Maybe they'd be put up against each other. The girl though would fetch a much smaller price. Probably not even worth it.
Oh well, Skandavians that passed through would take her, or some other man. He disappeared over the top of the hill, but instead of going down the otherside, it was if he vanished into thin air.

Lea ran into the guy who was angling to cut her off and they went down with a crash and rolled several feet. She used the moementum of the roll to jump to her feet, just as her assailant did. He swung a club at her head and she was forced to do a back flip to get out of his reach.
As she landed back on her feet she flicked a small throwing knife at him and saw it embedded in his chest. She continued running down the hill after Josh when four arrows flew past her. She dove out of the way, cursing the ranger for his narrow focus, but hoping they found their mark at the same time.
Someone landed on top of her and pinned her to the ground before she could find out if Monkuta's shots had scored or not.

Gorlam jumped on the woman as soon as she ducked from the arrows. His yellow teeth were clearly shown through his cracked, parted lips and his fowl breath was easily smelt. His weight alone would no doubt keep her down as he was the around size of two grown men. Neither did he think that she could take him, but nevertheless, he waited until Jokuin, Loind, and Yatal surrounded them before getting off her. He didn't think to grab her as he did so, known more for his strength than his brains.

When the man got up and tried to pull Lea to her feet she rolled away and sprang to her feet, a knife in each hand. She was running out of knives and needed to wrap this up soon. She jumped into the air and leveled a spinning kick at the large man's head. When she landed she went into a tuck and roll to try to get out of the circle the four men made and attack one from behind.

Jokuin, the smartest of the lot, wasn't suprised when Gorlam got a kick in the head for his carelessness. The giant roared in anger as his hands clasped his face, but Jokuin wasn't paying the least bit of attention. His complete focus was on the woman. She moved too fast to be a simple civilian, which he'd doubted in the first place. She didn't move right.
Once she tucked into a ball and tried to roll, he sent a well-aimed kick into her back, not hard enough to break anything, but enough to corrupt her manuever. He looked at Loind, the group's joker who'd laughed at Gorlam, and then at the woman, silently ordering him to grab her. If she bounced back as fast as she moved, he didn't want to be the one getting knifed.
Loind, trained to obey, did so.

Lea felt a boot hit her back and she grunted in pain. The kick knocked her off course and she rolled right into the legs of one of the other men. Since she was already on her hands and knees, she did a handstand and wrapped her legs around the guy's neck and pulled him forward, hoping to flip him into the guy that had kicked her.
Once they were tangled up with eachother, she could slip through the opening and put some distance between them and take them out one at a time.

Monkuta awoke. He needed air, now. He scramble to his feet, his head barely breaching the surface of the water. He gasped for air. He looked upstream. A man was looking for him and his sudden appearance had alerted him. He quickly climbed out of the water and unsheathed his knives, waiting for the man to approach. He couldn't be any more skilled a fighter than the others that he'd dispatched or he would have been sent to get Lea. Or did they already have Lea. He was to disoriented to search for either of his companions. He would have to concentrate on this man alone.

Jokuin watched in horrid fascination as Loind was grabbed by the neck - with her feet too! - and pulled - Crap! He twisted to the left, his time in the arena having honed his reflexes extremely well, and managed to not get his by his comrades body, minus the slight bump of shoulders. A groan issued behind him as Loind hit the ground.
The other two didn't need to wait for orders before attacking. Gorlam jumped in the air to belly-flatten her even as Jokuin finished his turn. Eyes cold, he kicked out once again, but this time hitting the man instead of the woman. Merchendise wasn't wanted broken.
Yatal had pulled a knife and with a sharp flick of his wrist sent it hurtling toward her, but unfortunately, he'd done it just as Gorlam had decided to jump and ended up impaling his own friend in the neck. Neither had really noticed that Gorlam was seconds from death when he'd been kicked and a force like that had no doubt left him to sleep forever. His crumbled body lay a few feet away, but neither looked for both sets of eyes were trained on Lea.
Their hands reached for their knives.

Perkins stumbled down the slope, eyes scanning the river when he caught sight of the man a few yards past where he'd entered. The current had carried him further downstream. He was skilled not only with the jace, but the spear and once he was close enough he let it fly.
This spear was made specifically for capture, the end being blunt so it wouldn't pierce flesh and kill the one they wanted to sell. Rather, it's commonity [OOC: don't care if that isn't even a word *grin*] was to knock people out and leave a giant bruise and aching pain in the process.

((I think you're looking for 'commodity' Also, what's a 'jace?'))
Monkuta was clear enough now to see the spear coming now and jumped out of the way, climbing a tree and jumping from branch to branch as quickly as he could. It was a good defensive strategy and it would wake him up more quickly. As he moved, he equipped his bow and started firing, knocking arrow after arrow as quickly as he could. Now was no time for careful aiming. He would have to trust in instinct to guide his weapons to their target.

Lea released the one man with her feet and continued her roll, cursing to herself that the guy who had kicked her had jumped clear of his companion. She didn't have time to dwell on that, though as the fat guy tried to belly flop onto her.
She was confused for a moment when she rolled clear, and jumped to her feet and noticed the fat guy crumple to the ground, then she saw the fourth guy and the knife sitcking out of his comrad's neck.
"Thanks!" She smiled wickedly and let fly with her own knife she had drawn from the nape of her neck. The blade spun through the air straight towards Yatal.
Lea didn't wait to see if it met its mark. She took off running now that there was an opening, straight down to where she had last seen the ranger near the water. She hoped he wasn't out of commission too, or she could be in serious trouble. How many more were out there?

[*groans* tell me I didn't actually type 'jace' *sighs* I meant 'mace' - was in a rush]
Perkins dodged the first arrow with a snarl before getting shot in the arm. A scream burst from his lips at the pain though he still had enough sense to get out of the open. He now crouched behind a tree and gritting his teeth, he yanked the arrow out. Blood trickled from his mouth and he spat out the small piece of tongue he'd accidentally bit off.
He peeked out from behind his shelter and quickly found Monkuta amongst the trees. A deadly aim, he grabbed a fist-sized rock and flung it, sneering when it hit true.

Yatal didn't have the reflexes of those that made half a living in the arena and because of it, the knife entered into his arm. He yanked it out with a snarl before starting to give chase to the woman, but was roughly stopped as Jokuin grabbed his other arm.
"The Ranger. He'll fetch a higher price."
With a snarl Yatal jerked himself free, but knowing defying orders was punishable by death, he obeyed. After a quick scan, he spotted Perkins, but it took another for him to see the ranger. A second later, he was closing in from the back.
Jokuin flicked his eyes over to Gorlam and saw the knife sticking from the man's neck, without the slightest sign of guilt or pain of lose, he retreived it and stuck it in his boot. After a quick glance around he made his way over the top of the hill and down the other side, though he never made it to the bottom. Reinforcements would be necessary.

Monkuta grunted in pain as the rock connected with his arm. It knocked him back and he landed on a lower branch, the impacted bruising his back. "Damnit..." he muttered, knowing that he could have dodged it. He shouldn't have stopped moving. But he didn't have time to punish himself about it. He had to take care of this man and find Marina and Lea. The man was using a tree for cover. To see Monkuta he would have to peek around it. Standing up on the branch, he considered two options: Wait for the man to reveal himself and shoot, or sneak about the trees and attack him from above. Time was of the essence. He would have to go with the second option. Careful not to make a sound while doing so, he leaped from branch to branch, growing closer and closer to the man with every step. He had an arrow knocked and ready. Soon enough he had a clear shot at the top of the man's head and he was none the wiser. Carefully, Monkuta pulled back on the string and let fly. He winced as the arrow plunged into his head, penetrating the skull and very likely the brain. It was not a pretty sight. Still using the trees to get around, he began searching for his companions.
