"Well, aren't you generous,"
Lea shot him a look. "Obviously you have never had to steal for your supper or had to fight others on the street for food." Lea said sarcastically. Maybe he didn't have a sense of humor afterall, Lea thought sourly.
She followed him up to the Inn, thinking he seemed a bit edgy and was drawing looks from people.
"Try to stay inconspicuous."
Lea smirked. "Inconspicuous isn't my M.O." she replied innocently as they entered and scanned the crowd for a likely target to charm.

It took only moments for Monkuta to scan the first floor of the inn and find their target. Sitting by the fire at the far end of the room, surrounded by men who obviously feared him greatly, was a man who emanated an aura of death. Except for the few who chuckled fearful laughs at his jokes, every other customer gravitated away from him. This was a man with power and information, if Monkuta's training had taught him anything.
He shot Lea a glance and tilted his head towards the man, proceeding to cross the room to a table close enough that they could eavesdrop on the man but not be easily noticed by him. __________________________________________________________________________________________
On the other side of the inn, Wesley sat by the fire, inhaling mug after mug of ale and eying the men around him with increasing suspicion. All of them seemed friendly and were talking to him freely, but their hands never left the weapons hanging from their belts. He would likely have to kill them later.

Lea followed Monkuta to the table and sat down, ignoring thier target. She motioned for the serving wench and ordered a mug of ale and a plate of steak and potatoes. She hoped she would have time to eat. It had been at least two days since her last decent meal. Beef jerky could only get one so far afterall.
As she waited for her food, she surveyed the crowd. She tried to tune in to different conversations, but there were a small group of drunken gladiators in the corner that kept interfering with her ability to hear the other conversations nearby. She only caught snatches. None of it was particularly helpful.

Kieren kept her back to the way in the corner, completely and utterly restless. She wasn't scheduled to fight until much later tonight and she was itching to get back in the ring. Having control over the body was plan fantastic! Well, except for times like these: when she was bored. She thought about settling back and letting Melody take over for awhile, but decided against it. She didn't want to risk the chance of her getting strong enough to overthrow her, not when she'd been reigning for so long. Kieren believed that she'd finally broken her other, pathetic 'half' if one would so dare to call whiney, goody-shoes Melody such an insult [to both of them], but liked reigning too much to want to chance it. But man was she bored.
She noted the two people entering with only a glance of her eyes, checking them out to see if they were fight-worthy. She quickly dismissed them and leaned back with a sigh. Maybe she should go talk to Wesley. Or better yet, pick a fight...
She sighed. Or not. She had to fight tonight. She idly circled the top of her cup with one finger, ignoring the ale that still half-way filled it. She wasn't much of a drinker despite her other accomodies.

Monkuta agreed that now would be a rare opportunity for a good meal and ordered as well. He slouched in his chair, thankful for this moment of respite. However, being a Ranger, he wouldn't let himself rest for long; not here, where every person around them had a reason to slit their throats.
He sat up, leaning on the table with arms crossed. His eyes darted around, thankful that his back was to a wall. The giant man had quieted down and his followers and dispersed around the room, apparently much more comfortable for it. The giant sat alone, swallowing mug after mug of alcohol. Then he eyed the man's weapon. It was a long, thick axe, longer than the man himself with a double-edge at the top end. He doubted that he could grip the weapon without using both hands. He swallowed to calm his nerves. If they had to fight this man, they would lose. He was quite sure of it. However, he seemed docile enough for the moment, so his focus moved on.
Their food came and Monkuta absent-mindedly inhaled it while he continued to survey the room.
They were an unsavory bunch, of that Monkuta was sure. But something seemed out of place. He watched the movement of the people in the inn. There was something else they were avoiding. Then he realized what he had missed. She was so small, so inconspicuous. A girl sat in the far corner of the room, utterly alone. What could she possibly be doing here? He caught a glimpse of her eyes and it became painfully clear. She was a fighter.
He leaned closer to Lea and whispered, "See that girl across the room? What do you think of her?"

Someone was watching her.
Kieren grinned to herself, but kept her face perfectly schooled. She usually knew when someone was watching her, she could 'feel' it. Sometimes she liked it, others she didn't. This time, she didn't care either way. She turned her head slowly toward the source, saw it was the man and lady who'd just entered, stared at them for a few seconds before sliding her gaze back to her mug. She hoped she didn't have to fight them. They didn't look like they'd put up much of a challenge. Maybe they were just part of the crowd, here only to check out the fighters to see which to bet on. Few had betted on her at first, believing it'd only been just luck considering she was cut badly too. The second time, Melody [that fool] had gotten out for a few seconds and almost got her killed. She'd tortured her for that, letting her watch while she played with her next opponent. Only Melody knew that she played though. Her nemesis had actually thought he was winning. That idiot.
After that, it'd all been uphill. She'd shone her true colors as a blood-thirsty vixon, winning battle after battle. She had yet to go up against Wesley though and was looking forward to it. She respected his skills and knew that he'd give her something to thrill her. She simply had to wait for chance to draw their lots together and then she'd really show them all she had.

"See that girl across the room? What do you think of her?"
Lea shoved a spoonful of her meal into her mouth and then picked up her mug with the other hand as she glanced over in the corner at the woman Monkuta indicated. Her eyes met and locked for a moment and then the woman looked back into her mug. There had been a strange look in the woman's eyes, and Lea wasn't sure what it was. It left her feeling a bit edgy. Lea took a chug out of her mug and scanned the room again, her eyes settling on several warriors in the room.
She said softly to Monkuta, "I am not sure. She looks - wild - I guess, and dangerous. Definately one of the fighters here, and it looks like she likes it." Lea was looking around at the others and noticed how everyone stayed away from the woman, almost as if they were afraid of her, or felt uncomfortable around her. The question was, would she be willing to give them any information, or would there be a way to get her to give them the info they needed without her knowing she was doing so.
She looked back to Monkuta. "It's your call. I will follow your lead."

Monkuta weighed their options. They had two possible sources of information and neither seemed particularly civil. The girl would probably gut and skin anyone who came near her. At least the giant was drunk and happy... but that didn't mean weak or stupid. He had to remember that. He rubbed his stomach, remembering a time several years ago when he'd thought he'd caught a drunk man off-balance and received a punch that forced him to evacuate his bowels... It hadn't been a good day.
Leaning back in his chair and absently surveying the room, Monkuta decided that direct confrontation wouldn't be a good choice with any of these people. Their best plan of action would be to watch and listen.
"Alright," he said quietly, leaning towards Lea again. "Here's what we'll do. As much as I dislike the idea, it might be our best chance. You take the giant and I'll take the girl; when they leave the inn, we'll follow them wherever they go. See what you can find out from a distance and if you feel it's safe, start asking questions." He eyed their two targets quickly, making sure they weren't attracting attention. "We'll meet back here later tonight."
((Better that Monkuta goes with Kieran and Lea goes with Wesley so I don't have to rp with myself, yeah?))

Lea nodded. Since the big guy didn't look like he was going anywhere very soon, she ordered another mug of ale, but sipped at it very slowly. She didn't want to drink so much that she got foggy, though it would take far more than two mugs to really have much of an effect on her. She had been drinking spirits since she was a child afterall.
"Be careful. Something about her sets me on edge." Lea warned. She didn't want Monkuta to get severly injured, or worse - killed, in this place. Though he was relunctant, he was an ally and a useful one and she didn't like the thought of being here alone. The whole place gave her the heebie jeebies. Besides he was a King's Ranger and they were basically on the same mission. They needed more information about this place and to rescue his apprentice.
Lea thought about that. Probably the girl was still in the location where they process new fighters. Whereever that was. It was also obvious that not everyone was a prisoner. Some chose to stay here and seemed to have the freedom to move about the town as they wanted.
Lea leaned in close to Monkuta as if she were whispering "sweet nothings" into his ear. "Maybe as a backup plan we should volunteer to fight. Looks like not everyone is a prisoner around here. We might have free rein to search." She carressed his neck with her hand, to keep up the pretence that they were "together" so they could talk without being overheard. She had breathed the words so softly that someone standing right behind them wouldn't have heard what she said. She had also turned her head so her lips were hidden from view against his cheek. It would be virtually impossible for someone to read her lips.

Monkuta almost agreed with her, putting his hand over her other in order to better the current illusion. Then he realized just what signing up for these fights would entail. "Only as a last resort. I've been listening around. Those fights are to the death. And if our two targets tells us anything about what we might face in there, it's that we very well could lose."
He shifted his position so that he could keep an eye on the girl, but she hadn't moved yet. He wished events would speed up. The longer he was away from Marina, the higher the chance that she was dead became. He swallowed, uncomfortable with that thought.

Kieren was getting bored. She gave a final look around the room, sighed, and rose, taking her drink with her. She crossed to the door, but before exiting she promptly dumped it on the nearest person's head. As anticipated, he jumped to his feet screaming rage and she immediately went on the attack. She slammed the mug against his skull before he could react further, forcing his eyes to cross, before following up with an uppercut to his chin. She frowned as he collapsed unconscious, before with a sigh, she dropped the mug and headed out the door. Today really was boring.

Monkuta watched in awe as the girl dispatched the foe that she'd deliberately provoked. He glumly stood and before following her out the door, turned back to Lea, saying, "This is going to be a fun night." Then he was out the door at a brisk pace.
As he emerged into the odd semi-dark that was the giant cavern that held this village, he looked in every direction, finally spotting the girl walking away from the tavern. Keeping a safe distance and using the crowd to his advantage, he pursued her, waiting for some sign that she knew any useful information.

Kieren made her way slowly through the cavernous town, walking slowly from sheer boredom. After about an hour of simply walking around in the shadows, she figured she might as well check out the new recruits, see if there were any she might deem as worthy. Who knows, maybe she'd get lucky... Fifteen minutes later, she was heading toward the deeper part of the Undercroft, checking on the captives. Most of them weren't of much of a promise and she was about ready to give up and call it quits for the time being, but then a shout of confustion came from up ahead and her lips pulled apart in a snarl/smile. Without a thought, she began running toward the shouts. [Check out this to know what's happening]

Lea watched Monkuta leave and pouted in dissapointment, as if he had just turned down her offer. She stared into her nearly empty mug and glanced at the giant out of the corner of her eye. Perhaps using her feminine powers of persuasion would be effective with him. Obviously trying to fight him was not the approach to take.
She shot him a teasing smile and coy look and then turned back to mug, wondering if he would rise to the bait. She wasn't exactly dressed for the "job", but figured that some of the prositutes in this place were likely to be armed to the teeth as she was, so hopefully she wouldn't stick out too badly.

Monkuta followed her easily enough for a long time, but with nothing to show for it. Maybe this was a dry lead. Maybe she was just an especially crazy looking little girl. But then something happened. There were shouts of pain and confusion ahead and instead of doing what any sane person would do and run away from the screams, she ran towards them. His hopes rose again and he followed her, matching her speed with relative ease. She was fast. He would remember that.
As he ran behind the girl, the crowds became more difficult to navigate as fleeing civilians and bandits pushed him in the opposite direction. It was like a stampede. When he finally found a moment of respite, he'd lost sight of the girl, but fortunately the screams were still loud and clear. He could follow those and they would lead him to the girl... as well as whatever was causing them. He swallowed in anticipation and pressed on, more curious than nervous as to what was happening. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Wesley, drunk to the point that his vision blurred and he found difficulty standing, thought about falling asleep in the chair by the fire. It was certainly comfortable and no one would dare touch him. He could kill a man drunk and everyone that would dare enter this tavern knew it. So he settled into a comfortable position and relaxed. He knew sleep wouldn't come immediately and so he looked around the room, impaired as his eyes were. Most of the patrons were on their way out. He couldn't care less why. He was tired. One woman however, didn't move. Hadn't she been sitting with a man not too long ago? He supposed he'd imagined it.
