Lea felt a heavy tap on her shoulder and spun around, looking up into the frowning face of what she assumed must have been the store owner.
"No squaters in here. Buy something or git out." The woman, at least Lea thought it was a woman, had huge fat fingers, wild, tangled dark, scraggly hair, green eyes and a wide mouth sporting several rotting teeth. She was wearing dark green clothing over her bulk, but it was so loose and so many layers that it just looked like a huge pile of rags.
Lea looked around to see what kind of shop she had ducked into and was disappointed at first to realize she was in a men's clothing store, but then she began to think that a change of clothing might be useful. Maybe that would help her get away from the person who drugged her at the bar.
She stood up and, swaying slightly, began to look around the shop. Her head hurt now, and she was having trouble focusing on things. She picked out a pair of dark blue pants and a white shirt with large sleeves and a black sleevless vest with blue trim. She even found a pair of black suade boots that came up to her thighs that fit her. She paid for the new items and stuffed her old clothes in her satchel and stumbled out of the shop, right into the waiting arms of two of the thugs from the bar.
"This is 'er!" one of them said as he grabbed her arm. "lookee 'ere. She got all dressed up fer us!" He leered at her.
The two men siezed her and dragged her back to the tavern, kicking and fighting them all the way. They laughed at her as they threw her on the floor in front of the bar and she glared at them.
"We got 'er, Boss." One of them said to the man behind the bar. "What ya want us ta do wi' 'er now?"
Lea looked around and saw that the tavern was empty except for the two men who captured her, the barkeep, and The big man she'd been trying to weasle information out of. She glanced at him hopefully, wondering if she could expect any help from him.
"Search her and then tie her up." Lea swung her attention back to the barkeep as he ordered the others. "We'll sell her to Rikan in the morning." Lea glared at him. So that was the reason he had drugged her. This Rikan person must be someone powerful around here.
"Who the hell is Rikan?" Lea asked as the two men pulled her satchel out of her hands and found the three obvious knives on her person. The men laughed again as they tied her up.

Wesley, peacefully snoring by the fire for an amount of time he didn't care to think about, was rudely awakened by the loud sound of something slamming against the floor. He groaned in anger and frustration and groggily stood up. Sleep had sobered him up a bit and he was quickly able to discern the figures in the room.
"What is happening? I did not come here to be interrupted by small fools," he half-said, half-growled. It took him a moment to remember the events that had happened before he dozed off and recognize Lea. He grabbed his axe from its leaning position against his chair and advanced on the group.

Kieren made her way to the arena, a snarl on her face and a wicked gleam in her eyes. This time she wouldn't hold back, wouldn't let them ignorantly believe that she only won by luck. She'd make it noticable that she was playing with her prey before going in for the kill. And then she'd be praised by the onlookers and given a 'throne-like' lifestyle she was supposed to have. Lost in her fantasy, she was still ignorant of the man trailing her, though her alarms did go off as she entered the arena. There was already someone down there! With a snarl, she shoved the nearest man away, whipped the sword out of his hand, and darted toward the tunnel opening. No way was that man going to kill that girl. This was her fight and she'd bloody well take it. Hell, she'd kill them both.

Monkuta unknowingly followed the girl into the Arena and was both surprised and afraid when the entire situation came toppling down on top of him. There were two people in the arena. He almost dared not continue the thought. A large, fearsome looking man--obviously a fighter of several years experience--and Marina. His target had stolen a weapon and was heading straight for them. He darted after her, fueling himself on what adrenaline and strength he could still muster after the day's events.

Lea struggled with her captors as they tried to tie her hands behind her back and managed to kick one of them in the groin. He loosened his hold and clutched himself, moaning in pain.
That was enough of an opening for Lea, she got one hand free of the other's grasp and slipped a small blade out of her new boots and stabbed the blade into the other guy's throat up to the hilt and swiftly pulled it back out.
His eyes widened in surprise and he let go of her to clutch at his neck, trying to stop his lifeblood from flowing onto the dirty tavern floor. He staggered backward, toward the big man snoozing in the chair by the bar.
By that time the first guy was regaining his composure and grabbed the loose end of the rope whose other end was tied around her left wrist.
Lea grabbed the rope with her left hand and pulled the man toward her, within striking range. She slashed at his stomach and again he jumped back in pain as they circled. His back was now to the bar and hers to the door, but he still had a good grip on the rope connecting them.
Out of the corner of her eye Lea saw the barkeep jump across the bar and draw a short sword, a wicked gleam in his eye. Then she heard a deep rumbling voice and her blood ran cold.
"What is happening? I did not come here to be interrupted by small fools,"
The barkeep slowed his advance on Lea and the guy fighting her backed away from Wesley, pulling Lea along by the rope. "Stay out of this Wesley, it doesn't concern you!" The Barkeep warned, though his voice didn't sound all that confident. "The girl is my slave to sell to Rikan." He didn't want to fight the giant, but he wasn't about to give up the profit she would bring in. He was delighted to find out she actually had some fight in her.
Lea glared at the Barkeep, "I am no man's slave!" She said savagely and dropped to the floor, pulling the rope hard in an arc over her head and sweeping the legs out from under her captor as she did so.
The man went sailing over her head and crashed to the floor at Wesley's feet. He cowered with his arms covering his face as he stared up into the giant's angry eyes. The rope around Lea's wrist that had connected them was severed in the motion and she pulled the loosened end off her wrist and turned to face the barkeep with nothing but a 6 inch dagger against a short sword.
She shot a deadly smile at the man, "if you want me, come and get me!" She was now standing in the center of the room, in the most open space of the tavern, though there were tables all around them, one of which had just gotten smashed.

Wesley frowned and grunted, leaning over. He lifted the barkeep by his collar until the was at eye level. The little man dangled in the air and shook like a dog in a way that greatly amused Wesley. "You want this woman as a slave?" he asked. He looked at Lea. "She is strong. She would kill many men... She would earn you much money."
He scrutinized Lea for a moment, looking her over. "She is also very..." he searched for the word, "sly. She tried to trick me before. She would trick you too." He returned his gaze to the terrified man hanging before him. "What do you think?"

Lea hadn't realized just how big the man was until he stood up and picked up the barkeep right in front of her. She took a couple steps backwards, not liking where the converstation was going.
She was determined not to be taken to the arena as a slave though. Even giants could die. She hoped.
___
The barkeep was almost as angry as he was scared of Wesley, but now was not the time to provoke the man further. "Yeah, I want her as a slave." He answered warily, not keeping the edge of fear out of his voice, nor the slightly sullen tone either for that matter. "I saw her first when she came in with that young fellow."
___
Lea backed up a few more steps, readying herself to fight the giant. She reached behind her and picked up one of her long knives that her captors had laid there when they had disarmed her. She kept it hidden behind her back, and waited for Wesley's next move, unsure of what he had planned, though she figured it would not be good for her either way.

Marina was running around the arena by now, thankful that she'd spent hours running away from those snot-nosed boys. She was barely able to keep out of the reach of the ogre chasing her. She noticed another entranced opponent out of the corner of her eye and her stomach dropped to her toes, figuring that she wasn't going to be of any help to her. But then, Kieren drew her sword and rushed at the giant, lifting Marina's spirit...kind of.

Monkuta drew his knives as he entered the ring. He looked around, assessing the situation. If the girl and the man could have just distracted each other, he might have been able to get Marina out before they noticed. No time to waste. He ran towards his apprentice, praying that she would notice him before either of the others did.

Damn it! How many people were they going to send in here? Marina had just noticed the entrance of a third opponent, but this time didn't even bother to look at his face. Instead her eyes riveted on his hands and after making sure that he wasn't holding a weapon, she let out a scream and launched herself at him. By the time her eyes finally did level with his face she was already a second away from crashing into him. Still, that was plenty enough time for her to curse herself. Man, Monkuta was sooo not going to thank her for flying at him like a madman. ~ * ~ Kieren twirled the sword once as she ran toward the man, bringing it out of its twirl to slice toward his side. Fury ran in her eyes as she could almost see her triumph of the battle in her mind. Crazed with the fantasy, she fought without hesitation or pause when she was hit. If anything, she'd gone berserk, a trait no doubt passed from her Skandian forefather she never knew. [OOC: control her if you want J. Kill her off, let her win, doesn't matter to me]

Lea thought furiously, well as fast as she was able with the drugs still in her system. She backed up one more step, swaying as a wave of dizziness went over her. "I wasn't trying to trick you." She said to Wesley. "That man drugged my drink. It is starting to wear off now."
Should she tell the giant what she had really wanted? No, Monkuta wouldn't like that. They needed to find his apprentice and get her out without anyone finding out about them. "I just wanted to see the gladiators, to meet one in person. I don't want to become one!" She glanced around the room and saw the first man she had knocked down crawling toward the door. She kept an eye on him, but otherwise let him go.
"Tell you what, why don't we make a game of it?" She asked Wesley. "You let me fight this barkeep. If he wins, I become his slave, if I win, he becomes your slave and I go free. We fight until one of us yields or is unconcious." Lea twirled the knife in her hand confidently, even though she wasn't at all sure she could beat this barkeeper. "Then you can go back to sleep."

Wesley ground his teeth, deep in thought... Or at least as deep as his thoughts got. "Yes," he said, simply. He dropped the barkeep and stepped back. "Then I go back to sleep." He yawned and bent over, staring deep into the man's eyes. "If you lose... I will probably kill you," he said, grinning. _____________________
Monkuta went wide eyed and swore loudly at the sight of his apprentice flying through the air, straight towards him. He tried to move out of the way, but there was far from enough time to create any distance between the two of them. He went down to the ground, butt first. His back rang with pain. He opened his eyes to find himself lying on his back, Marina lying on top of him. He grunted, and almost scolded her, but the realization that he'd just found her took over. He smirked, patted her on the head and said, "Hey there. We should get out of here." ______________
Quail was taken aback by the sudden increase in activity around him. He wasn't prepared for this. He did the only thing he knew how to do. He complained. He turned to face Llane again and start yelling at him about screwing with the fight. Unfortunately, he was interrupted as a little girl's sword lodged itself deep in his torso.

Lea nodded in satisfaction, figuring that the giant would stay out of it at least until the outcome was decided. She pulled the dagger off the table with her right hand and twirled it expertly, drawing their attention to that hand as she let fly with a throwing dagger from her left hand.
The dagger struck the barkeep right in his left shoulder where the tendons and nerves converged, exactly where she had intended it to. The dagger he had been holding clattered to the floor as his fingers went numb.
Surprise etched across his face, followed quickly by a look of pain and then fury. "Why you little..." He advanced on her in anger and she calmly met his attack, smiling sweetly all the while.
She deflected his sword swing by laying the long dagger along her arm as she grabbed the other long dagger off the table.
They danced around each other for a couple of minutes, each waiting for the other to make a mistake. Then she felt a tug on her foot, just as the barkeep swung his sword. She'd stupidly lost track of the other guy she had thought was making for the door. He had his hands around her ankle and was holding her in one place.
She only partially blocked the sword and the tip of the blade cut a slash down the outside of her leg and she cried out in pain. Now the barkeep was laughing at her as he swung his sword at her again.
Lea ducked under the blade, feeling the air swoosh over her head as she stabbed the guy holding her foot under his arm. He clenched his grip on her foot momentarily and then went limp as she pulled the blade out of his heart. She rolled under a table and came up on her feet with the table between her and the barkeep. She shoved it into him to give her a moment to breath and maneuver far away from the blood pooling under her victim. The footing would be slippery over there, and if she were lucky her opponent would slip in it.
Her leg stung and blood ran down it, making her own footing a little unsure, so she wanted to end this quickly. She could have killed him with the first knife throw of course, but she wasn't so sure if that would provoke the giant into attacking her or letting her go. The Barkeep might just be a friend of his or something. Besides, leaving a trail of bodies would only draw unwanted attention to herself. She thought about her options as her opponent advanced once again.

Wesley watched the fight with increasing indifference. He hated long ones. They got so boring. Good fights ended fast. He raised a bemused brow as it appeared that the girl didn't know what to do next. She seemed smart. She would figure it out. He didn't care much who won. The barkeep was none too good company... but he did give Wesley free drinks after good fights...

Kieren gave a wild snarl as she plunged her sword hilt deep in Quail's back. She gave a quick jerk of her twist as she wrenched the blade up before pulling it out in one smooth motion, snarling as she did so. It was a quick kill [or so she assumed it was], but was hardly satisfying. The want, the need to kill was still riding hot in her veins. She turned slowly toward the others in the ring just as the little girl came running toward her. Kieren's face lit up in a savage snarl as she took a step in advance. ~ * ~ Marina breathed a sigh of relief at her mentor's words. She'd seemed to escape punishment...for the moment. But not one to dwell on the unknown, she darted to her feet, gave a nod of her head and made a wild dash to where she'd entered, only to find her way blocked by the crazy psycho with the now bloody sword. Marina skidded to an immediate stop before rounding off to head toward the other exit [or what she assumed to be an exit for Quail had entered through it and it had to lead somewhere, right?]
