Heather grinned at her, "well you are definately in the right place. Most of us rangers are misfits in one way or another." Heather leaned against a tree and rubbed her shoulder again. Rick's potion was definately worn off and it ached something awful.
"I dont' have any scars, but I was the middle kid of a large family and pretty much ignored or tormented by my siblings. Not the worse life, sure, but some say it has made me put up walls. Many of the other rangers have thier own scars, some on the inside, some on the outside, but I can't think of too many of us that fit into 'normal' society and don't stick out like a sore thumb. A few perhaps, but not many." She held out her hand, "Come on Enya May, at least come meet a few of us, that way you will know some names anyway."
After a moment Heather asked, "So if you don't have a mentor yet, do you know if Crowley has picked one out for you? As it turns out I don't have an apprentice and he was bugging me in the last report to consider taking one on. I am not sure I will be a good mentor, but I can assure you your life won't be dull around me. Always some sort of drama, just ask Rick and Ben, or Quade even."

Just at that moment the girls heard vioces coming down the path and one seemed to sound like Crowley the other as he cam into view was a tall long haired Blonde man with a short beard and a slight scowl that seemed to be masking a pair of bright blue eyes.
"Oh here they are right now," Crowley said to the man, Heather you know Rhohiric, I need him to do some quick riding and he requested you help him prepare his horse, you are not ready yet to ride correct? Oh Enya, I was meaning to introduce you to a few more of the students but there has been some news that I will be making public very soon that has kept me rather busy."

"Ok young lady snap to it go help Heather and Rhohiric with thier horses you will all be getting orders shortly!" Barked Crowley as if to shake them all out of a dream. "The fun is over we have situation on our hand and I want to see everyone on the gathering Glade just before nightfall someone start the Damn Bonfire!" he said as he walked away towards another group.
"Hello Heather how are you?" Said the tall rider Crowley called Rhoriric. Sorry I told him I could manage if you were hurt but he said he wanted things done quickly, Nice to meet you, Enya was it? Wow you have beautiful eys!, um sorry but I have never seen a shade like that, I have the Horses over here."

Heather noticed that Crowley's not so great mood had gotten worse. Whatever news it was, it didn't sound too great. She met Rhoriric's gaze and looked at him questioningly and then jumped a little when Crowley snapped at her and Enya May and then rode off abruptly.
"Hello Heather how are you?"
"I've been better," she motioned to her shoulder, "but then I've been worse too." She grinned at him. "Good to see you again Rory. How have you been?"
"Enya was it? Wow you have beautiful eys!, um sorry but I have never seen a shade like that." Rhoriric said.
They turned to the new apprentice, "Watch out for him, Enya May. He is a smooth talker!" she winked at Rhoriric. "Well, we'd best not disobey the Commandant's orders, especially not when he is in this current mood." Turning back to Rhoriric she asked, "Any idea what is going on? It sounds rather ominus from the looks of Crowley's agitation. And what exactly do you need help with?"

Rick watched Heather with interest as she flitted off into the trees and then realized what she was up to. He glanced up at the sun, figuring Ringulf was probably winding up his axe class soon. He figured it was about time to go add his bit of performance to the class.
Rick stood up and said to the others, "I will be back in a few minutes. I have a favor to do for Ringulf." He reached into his tent and brought out a bag of tomahawks and then saddled up his buckskin colt. Domingo watched him with his ears perked up, wondering what they were up to. Rick mounted and rode off toward the archery range at a quick trot.

"Halt is getting old and can't handle an apprentice, my lady" Gedric said
"Well, I suppose so." Pippen replied, somewhat dubiously. She sighed heavily. After a moment, she spoke again. "Well, since he's taought you most if not all his bad habits...." she trailed off as she turned her gaze on Gedrc again, studying him thoughtfully. Slowly, her mouth curled upwards in a smile. "You don't appear to be the type that would go insane from too much knowlege, nor like someone who might turn into another Red, heaven forbid." she shuddered at that thought--one Red was more than enough. "so I think it'll be alright to teach you some of my...more dangerous...talents." Here she smiled wickedly. "How are you on a horse?"

Enya sighed softly looked down as she got quiet again..Enya was very shy at times and this was one of them. She did not know anything to say at the moment so she just stayed quiet and continued to look at the ground.

"How are you on a horse?" she had asked him. Gedrick loved Kadock but wasn't that good in horseriding. "I'not the best rider, my lady" he said with a tone of shame in his voice

Pip's smile broadened. "Don't worry! You're my apprentice, now--that will change in a hurry. I just won't be teaching you the dead-man's drag, anytime soon, that's all."
She glanced around to take note of what was going on, and saw that a few Ranger's were already piling up wood for the night's bonfire. "Hunh. Looks like things are getting started early tonight." a thought raced through her head and she straightened suddenly with alarm. "Speaking of which, we can carry this conversation on, while we watch the food getting prepared. Red tends to...how should I say this? Sabatoge our communal dinners."
"Aww, but you'll ruin my fun!" a lighthearted voice complained from behind Pippen. She turned to see Red standing behind her with his ever-present grin spread across his face. "Riiiight. I've got a better idea for you--Crowley told me he's not a snake, he's a bird."
She watched Red tilt his head to one side, like a bird eying a shiney object, as he considered the possibilities. A grin appeared. "That gives me some ideas! Thanks." He turned and trotted off. Pippen turned back to Gedric. "Well, c'mon, let's go keep an eye on dinner. We can talk while we do it. Do you have any questions you'd like me to answer?"

"Not really" he started saying but his curiosity didn't let him finish "Where do you live ? What will you teach me ? What are we going to eat tonight?" he said without any of his previous courtesy- he had hours to eat and his stomach had started to complain when she mentioned food.

Heather watched Enya for a few minutes as they walked over to where Roary had his horses waiting. She looked thoughtful, wondering how she could break the ice with the young girl. She knew what it was like to be shy in front of so many strangers. Even now, after years of training and practice, she still liked to sit back and let others be the first to speak and to keep quiet while observing everyone around her. Her apprenticeship, though it had brought her self-confidence, it had not completely erased that resistance and apprehension when meeting someone for the first time.
Since they were going to help Rhoariric with his horses, Heather thought it might be a good idea to find out if the girl had any experience with them.
"So Enya, do you know how to ride and what experience do you have with horses?" She asked and then looked at Roary to help her.
Heather gave a low whistle and her horse Shasta trotted over from a little glade where many of the ranger horses were hanging out grazing. They didn't need tying or hobbling and the horses seemed to enjoy the Gathering as much as the rangers, cavorting and nuzzling each other like long lost friends.
Heather petted Shasta on the nose for a moment and then said to her multi-colored appaloosa, "Shasta, this is Enya. Enya, this is Shasta." She moved her hand and Shasta dipped one forefoot and arced her neck in an impressive bow and then stood and stretched her nose toward Enya.

"Where do you live ? What will you teach me ? What are we going to eat tonight?"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Slow down there, Gedric! I can only answer one at a time." She paused collected her thoughts, then began. "To start with your first question, I don't live anywhere, really. I do't have a permanent fief yet. That might change now, but then again, it might not. we'll see what Crowley decides.
" In answer to your second, I'll begin by teaching you what every Ranger teaches their apprentice, starting with the basics. And once your more advanced in your riding abilities, I'll teach you some stunts that will make Crowley's hair stand on end." she grinned, knowing what Crowley would have to say about that.
"And lastly, Tonight's meal will consist of whatever the Ranger's on cooking duty decide to cook up. Tomorrow it's you apprentices' turn." she grinned.
