Anna was wandering around the countryside. She had been watching for bandits and hoping to catch some as they seemed to be causing a lot of trouble. She'd already caught a couple and had dragged them back to Whitby. She almost longed for the days when she had been a new ranger in a nice slow fief. Though she knew she would hate that.
Anna had passed by some farms and continued to check each one. She wanted to make sure the farmers were fine, they hadn't caught the plague, and that the bandits weren't making too much of a fuss.
She could see a farm coming up. Was this the one with the little farmer's girl who always watched her. Probably the girl thought the ranger hadn't noticed, but Anna had. Was the girl interested in Rangers? Or maybe she just thought Anna's horse was pretty. Anna laughed at the thought. Lady wasn't a special looking horse, she was just a shaggy little bay. And a little more. Anna was almost to the farm, so she began to slow from a trot to a walk.

Siobahn had just walked back from the village her feet bare as she hated wearing shoes if she did not have too. She had a black eye and blooding lip from getting into a fight with a boy who was trying to pick on her because she was smaller than he was. Siobahn was a tomboy for sure she fought boys and climbed trees; she also wanted so badly to be a Ranger’s Apprentice. She loved how mysterious Anna the fief Ranger was and wanted to be just like her. Walking into the field near her house Siobahn looked over and saw Anna riding her little bay pony down the road towards her farm. She smiled happily and ran to a bunch of trees near the road by her little farmhouse.
Climbing into the tree nearest the road she got into a place where she could watch the Ranger at her father’s farm, but she couldn’t be seen unless you looked very closely. Siobahn always sat in this tree and watched the Ranger and ate apples that she filched from her father’s apple barn where he stored them until he took them to the market. Sitting down on a branch she watched as the Ranger and her pony walked underneath her tree and passed her. Siobahn jumped out of the tree and ran in the shadows of the trees to her house and hid in some bushes nearby to see what the Ranger was up too.

Anna rode up the path to the farmhouse. She dismounted and went to knock on the door. She hoped the farmer was in. And if he wasn't, then his daughter was.
She could remember the man, he was one of the few without prejudice to Rangers. She had helped him once. He was attacked by bandits and she'd come across him on the road. She chased off the bandits and helped him get back to his home.

Siobahn watched as the female Ranger walked up to their front door and knocked on it. Her father Micah Answered the door as she watched in the bushes and smiled to the Ranger "Ah Ranger how nice to see you again to what do I owe this visit?"She watched as the Ranger nodded to her father and wondered what the women wanted and tried to think of anything her family had done wrong.
She knew that the Ranger had saved her father from Bandits years ago and that he was not prejudice to them like some of the other villagers were. Siobahn had heard from some of the village children that Rangers practiced Black Magic which she knew was nonsense. She did not know that her shoes were sticking out of the bush a few inches as she watched her father invite the Ranger into the house.

Ah Ranger how nice to see you again to what do I owe this visit?"
"Just checking up on you, Micha. Don't want you to get in trouble again!" she jested. "Come in then," Micha insisted. "You sure?" "Of course!" Anna shrugged and entered the house, but not before noticing the pair of feet sticking out from under a bush. She smiled, she knew who it was.

Siobahn moved out of her hiding place as she saw the Ranger head into her house. She looked around for a new hiding place so she could listen in to her Father and Anna the Ranger. Deciding there were no good places to hide around the window she ran over to the window in her room and climbed through it not realizing she had moved her clothes chest under it.
After making a large crash which she hoped her Father had not heard she went to her doorway and cracked it a bit so she could listen behind the door. Her Father turned to the Ranger giving her a cup of coffee and smiles as he sits down "Thank you for coming to check on me If those bandits had killed me my daughter would have become a orphan" He looks around for a second before turning back to Anna "I'm sorry she is not around she loves Ranger's. She thinks she can become one someday." Siobahn frowns as her Father tells Ranger Anna her biggest dream.

Anna took the coffee and began to drink it slowly, savoring the flavor. She, like most rangers, loved coffee. "My pleasure," she replied.
He looks around for a second before turning back to Anna "I'm sorry she is not around she loves Ranger's. She thinks she can become one someday."
"Oh, I think she knows I'm here," Anna had heard the crash and seen Siobahn's feet. "Though I doubt she'll get far by eavesdropping," Anna said the last part a bit louder, knowing the girl would hear.
