As the Mouse was talking, Palisade studied her, as if unsure what to do with her. She was most likely right, of course. Even if she did submit to the arrest and cooperate, she was facing an abundance of charges, not the least of which was murder, and the court didn't take that crime lightly. The male Ranger didn't know her entire criminal history, but she probably did have a date with the gallows.
Abruptly, he returned his nocked arrow to the quiver on his back and slung his bow over his shoulder. "Up you go," he said as he gently but firmly grasped hold of the bandit's good arm and helped her to her feet. He gestured to a mostly flat tree stump a few feet away and led her over to it. Suddenly, Palisade extended his leg and swept her feet out from under her. He pulled her uninjured arm onto the surface of the stump and quickly pressed her palm flat on the chopping block so that her fingers were extended.
"By the power vested in me by King Duncan of Araluen," he began. His voice was ragged and he was breathing heavily as he struggled to hold down the Mouse. "I find you guilty ..." He reached for his double knife scabbard and drew his saxe knife. "Of two counts of battery against Araluen Guardsmen, and I sentence you to the loss of two fingers in accordance with common law."
Palisade raised the blade.

"Up you go," he said as he gently but firmly grasped hold of the bandit's good arm and helped her to her feet.
Nissa flinched as his arm came near her, she shied away a little as his hand grasped her arm she remembered in a quick flash how her father had done the same many times to her. She got her feet under her and watched him warily. As he led her to the stump she at first assumed he was going to tie her up on it so that he didn't have to stoop so much with her on the ground. She wasn't an idiot she saw his leg a split second before it neatly tripped her she made herself go down but kept her feet planted in the ground. What the hell was he doing?! Her heart started to hammer in her chest as his grip on her good arm was cutting off the circulation. "Let me go!" she struggled against him.
"By the power vested in me by King Duncan of Araluen," he began. His voice was ragged and he was breathing heavily as he struggled to hold down the Mouse. "I find you guilty ..." He reached for his double knife scabbard and drew his saxe knife. "Of two counts of battery against Araluen Guardsmen, and I sentence you to the loss of two fingers in accordance with common law." Palisade raised the blade.
She froze at his words she fought down the panic as she felt him reach for his knife. "NO!" her voice was high pitched she tugged at her good arm. "No." the world seemed to stand still he couldn't do this to her! She didn't think anything could be worse than a hanging but now she realized that this was somehow worse. If he cut off her fingers she wouldn't be able to use her bow anymore. Her defense would go down she'd be caught in no time the other bandits would mock her. She couldn't let him do this! She struggled harder he was so much bigger than her! In a moment she had an idea, he was slightly off balance she had one shot and one shot only. She bunched her legs and with all the force she could muster and with her flight or fight instincts kicking in she pushed herself up shoved her shoulder right into him she wrenched her wrist free of his grasp and stumbled back a few paces her face set in determined lines her stance ready for a fight.
"If you don't mind I'd rather go to a trial and get hanged." her voice was shaky but her eyes were steady. Her breath came in big heaves but she was as always determined to survive.

He reached for his double knife scabbard and drew his saxe knife. "Of two counts of battery against Araluen Guardsmen, and I sentence you to the loss of two fingers in accordance with common law." Palisade raised the blade. Emily had felt the softness of fabric in her fingers as Palisade said those words. Jerking back and letting her hand pull up her saxe knife, she turned on her heel. ''Patrick.'' She said, calmly, '' There's not enough evidence that says that she actually assaulted those people. For all Crowley knows it could be a Ranger.'' She raised her blade. She knew that this could make her and this....handsome Ranger enemies, but at that moment she didnt care. ''Her shoulder needs to be popped back into place, and I'm guessing that there are more than one open wound that could become infected if we don't close them. Plus, if you hurt her, I will throw my saxe knife at you so quickly that you won't know whatpain is!'' On her credit, she had no clue where her words were coming from. She had just heard the words and had been instantly speaking her mind. She sighed quietly when Mouse had escaped hus grasp. With out taking her eyes off Palisade, she asked, ''Why don't I take a look at that shoulder?''

She was quick, Karel gave her that, as she reached into the bush. Deftly he dodged her outstretched hand. Then his eyes grew wide as he saw her hand start to grasp onto his cloak.
Emily had felt the softness of fabric in her fingers as Palisade said those words. Jerking back and letting her hand pull up her saxe knife, she turned on her heel.
Just like that, she withdrew and turned about. She had nearly had him, but then simply turned her attention elsewhere. She even had her back to him now, if he wanted he could attack her right now and have the advantage... 'No,' he thought, 'she wants to lure me out. Clever girl, but I'm not going to fall for that ploy.'
''Patrick.'' She said, calmly, ''There's not enough evidence that says that she actually assaulted those people. For all Crowley knows it could be a Ranger.'' She raised her blade. Plus, if you hurt her, I will throw my saxe knife at you so quickly that you won't know what pain is!'' Without taking her eyes off Palisade, she asked, ''Why don't I take a look at that shoulder?''
As her voice rose Karel took the opportunity to slip out the back of the bush so he could get a clearer view of things. He also pulled out his hand crossbow and slid a paralyzing poisoned bolt into the nock. 'Were they at odds?' he questioned, 'She just threatened him.' If it came to the two rangers fighting that would be perfect. Karel would slip off, grab the prisoner Palisade had just netted, and get the crows out of there. Today was supposed to be an easy score, now it was turning out to be one of his worst yet.

Nissa rammed her shoulder into Patrick with adrenaline-charged force. The powerful hit caused the Ranger to lose his balance and tumble.
He quickly rolled to his feet, keeping a strong grip on his saxe knife. Bringing his arms up and bending his knees in a defensive stance, Palisade prepared to protect himself from an attack that never came. To his surprise, the bandit girl was merely glaring at him defiantly, not mounting an assault or even trying to escape custody.
“Put your hands behind your back,” he told the Mouse as he sheathed his blade in his double knife scabbard and reached for his thumbcuffs.
“Stand down, Ranger,” he ordered Emily. “This isn’t your area of responsibility.” The woman was really beginning to aggravate him.

Nissa stood there still in a lot of pain from her fall and realized that he wasn't going to put her shoulder back in. He'd dealt with out of shoulder problems before but none as bad as this. It needed to go back in she couldn't wait for it to go back in all on its own it would never happen with her hands behind her back.
“Put your hands behind your back,” he told the Mouse as he sheathed his blade in his double knife scabbard and reached for his thumbcuffs.
She sighed a little. "I really hate rangers." she muttered then before anyone could shoot her or grab her she braced herself for the blinding pain and rammed her shoulder into a near by tree. It popped back into its socket with a small crack, Nissa saw spots for sure she staggered over to the stump and sat down breathing heavily and nearly passing out. She felt dizzy and unsteady. "All right take me away." she said her words slightly slurred she was fighting tears now, she rolled her shoulder a couple of times. Maybe if he tied her up she could just rest and sleep the pain off. "But...But i won't... be happy... about...it." she really wished her stomach wasn't all twisty turvey she felt rather sick. Her face was a nice shade of white bought she fought the urge to close her eyes and sleep. "Really wish the damn world would stop moving so much." she squished her eyes and shook her head a little bit. Did she ever mention this before? She really hated rangers loathed them hated them despised them. If she ever got out of this sticky situation she was going to make this rangers life miserable.

“Stand down, Ranger,” he ordered Emily. “This isn’t your area of responsibility.” Emily shrugged as if none of this mattered. "So...what's your point?" She asked, making no move to put away her saxe knife, nor to stand down. "I never really cared much about 'areas of responsibility.' They always got in the way of doing the right thing. Then again, dad never taught me that." She shook her head. "No siree." She glanced at the Mouse, and raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything. "So, I guess we are at an impasse." Emily said, looking at the other Ranger. "I'm not backing down, and if your any Ranger, I have a feeling you won't, either. So, how about this: I'll help you take Mouse to whoever is Baron or Lord or whatever here, and then we can go on our separate ways. Or we can fight here, and let her run away again." She smiled. "Your pick."

Karel lurked in the nearby brush waiting for this scene to play out and wait for his chance.
Secretly he was hoping that the two rangers would go at it with each other. They would be distracted long enough for him to grab this person called "Mouse" and flee with all haste. That would be the ideal situation. If they, for whatever reason, teamed up to take "Mouse" to this baron it would be disastrous. He played out a couple scenarios in his head, many weren't pleasant. If things went well Karel could expect slim odds at best of getting the captive out in one piece along with himself. He continued to prowl in hopes of his opening appearing.

Mouse sighed heavily, Rangers they were an annoying bunch of people. When they weren't stalking her they were arguing over her. She didn't like the girl ranger why was she pretending to be on her side? She didn't like how annoying her voice was, it grated on her ears and she just wouldn't shut up. Mouse was a bandit and she seemed to know more about ranger politics than this girl ranger did. In reality Emily had now authority here, or at least less authority anyway. As ranger of the the feif the male ranger had the ultimate say even over the baron, she wished they would just shut up. "Would you two just make up your minds and shut up? You Emily just leave me alone, I'm going with Marcus and I don't really freaking care at this point in time what exactly he or the baron does to me. As long as THE BOTH OF YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTHS AND LEAVE ME IN PEACE!" Shouting yeah she regretting shouting now, her head throbbed and her stomach churned even more she thought she really thought she might throw up but it passed thankfully. "If it helps miss Nosy Ranger Emily Wilson I DID shoot those men I didn't kill them though just injured. And for the record." she glared at Emily. "I can speak for myself I don't need your help, not do I want it."

Ranger Palisade saw the shifty look in Nissa's eyes a second before she darted away from him with admirable speed. At first, he thought the bandit was aiming to abscond, so he lunged after her. He put his hands on her after she struck the tree and moved her to the stump. He made a mental note to file a formal complaint against Emily once the situation was handled. Again, he pulled out his thumbcuffs, this time, restraining the girl.
"Frisk her," he said begrudgingly as he stepped back. "We'll take her to the baron."

Mouse just sat there glaring at everyone. She had done this to herself she suppose, this is what happens when you acquire a reputation people notice you and then before you know it king Duncan puts you on the most wanted list and presto you are one doomed bandit. She really hated rangers. "Ya know maybe if you spent more time actually helping people, more people would like you rangers and be less likely to go to the path of darkness." In her humble opinion Rangers were just a group of government people who thought they were better than everyone else and that they only helped the rich people and everyone else could just as well be left to fend for themselves. Her tired and painful mind worked on how she could get free and away from these disgusting rangers, but at the moment nothing was really coming to mind. If they took her to the baron then it would be all over for her there would be no escape she had to do it while on the road or there was no hope for her to survive.

Mouse edged away from Emily she didn't want her only weapon to be taken from her. She was going to need it when she escaped later. A arrow sailed threw the air and thudded against one of the trees close by Emily's head and another by Tandars head. Mouse frowned and looked around her.
"Let the Mouse go Ranger, we have you all surrounded. Let her go and we won't shoot you."
The voice seemed familiar to Mouse but she couldn't place where she had heard it before. If only her head would stop pounding. The voice echoed through the trees so you couldn't really be sure where exactly the speaker was. Mouse wasn't sure if they were her friends or her enemies. But for the moment she would assume that they were her allies.
