Age: 20
Gender: Male
Profession:
Wandering combatant
Appearance:
Grean is not beautiful by anyone's standards but clean-cut rugged and strong. He has wolfish grey-blue eyes a powerful build that belies an almost casual feline grace. Sporting close cropped dark brown hair he generally keeps a perpetual five o'clock shadow about his face. When it comes to battle he wears a chain hauberk, skull cap, plate greaves and gauntlets, for weapons he sports his trademark 'high sword, low axe' combination and when needed he keeps tucked away four daggers for throwing, close quarters fighting or simply pealing fruit. When he is in a more casual setting Grean can be seen in brown pants, dark green tunic, and a cape that matches his hair color. On his cape is a clasp that, when connected, displays his family crest.
Personality:
Grean lives life to the fullest that he can whether it be with drink and meal, love and lust, or battle and conflict. He nearly always has a smile on his face ranging from a smirk of confidence to a genuine grin of joy. Quick to laugh at a joke and tussle in a brawl it matters not, yet when it comes to those he holds in regard he will stand by their side doing whatever it takes until he can no longer move under his own power. When it comes to combat Grean has had a life long goal to become one of the best and he strives for his goal daily, challenging himself to complete tasks in a farfetched manner. For example, he is to move a mound of dirt from one spot to another, if he cannot do it within a time limit he sets for himself then he sets himself to accomplish even more rigorous physical labor, such as 1,000 push-ups, making him the epitome of determination. This however does not make him unwise to situations. He is observant of many things small and large, subtle gestures to overt proclamations. This tactfully allows him to know when to stick his neck out or to take a step back, though sometimes he doesn't listen to his own advice.
History:
Grean was born in a northern part of the Norgate fiefdom to Baron Greil Antillar and his mother, a rather talented serving girl. Being the bastard that he was many frowned upon his birth. His mother died in child birth due to complications. His father raised him, even though he was a bastard, to a life without want. Growing up he was given access to some of the best tutors in area so he could learn his numbers, history, trades, combat, basic wilderness survival, and etiquette. When he was five his father married and Grean's hell began. The step mother was jealous of the boy and would give him exceeding harsh punishment for even the slightest mistakes. Then his step mother, Odiana, gave birth to a child of her own, a boy, when Grean was six. Odiana felt a sense of fear and resentment towards Grean because his father felt that even though Grean was a bastard he should receive a portion of the holdings when his father passes. Odiana felt that it was her son that should receive all the holds because he was a legitimate hier, and she tried her utmost to destroy Grean. She set out to methodically sabotage the boy through missing work to setting dogs loose on him to nearly shooting him during a hunting trip. Also his punishments for any minor infarction were escalated to the point of getting whipped regularly leaving hideous scars on his back. As Grean and his step brother, Crassus, grew they became as close as any true pair of brother's could. Crassus felt for Grean and would try to stop Odiana from her rage only to slightly lessen Grean's punishments. It was a blessed day when Greil announced that it was time to send Grean off to Battleschool. Grean was thirteen when he arrived at the Battleschool, he was only admitted early because of his family line. He learned tactics, layouts, terrain, inventory and supply during his first year, then was sent to combat training and group warfare for the next three years. Grean has learned about nearly every form of combat though he excels in melee. He knows his way around a bow and siege just don't expect too much from him trying to operate either. Also learning about group fighting he has become an expert at paired fighting, trusting that his partner whomever it may be can hold their side while he holds his. After graduating with high marks, and having no desire to return home, he joined up with the military and patrolled the northern borders of Norgate fending off smugglers and bandits. While out on the border Grean heard about a special warfare group but only in bits and pieces, he thought to himself 'If I make it in with them that might be nice, but I know I'll have to prove myself here first.' He has yet been asked to join but feels that someone might be evaluating him from the shadows. When his tour finished he returned to Norgate proper where he travels on roads that are known for bandit attacks, this is because even though he stopped many smuggles and bandits from crossing borders he also knew that a far greater number had slipped passed and were causing problems. To this day he refuses to go home because of his step mother, both are fine with the arrangement. Grean's father periodically sends letters of support and funds to help keep Grean in his lifestyle while keeping enough distance so that his step mother doesn't interfere. As of this point he has left on another journey of excitement, adventure, and maybe even some romance...
Additional Details: After serving his time in the military Grean feels that it is his God given right to complain. His typical equipment includes a Broadsword, Battle axe, four daggers, a bow and war quiver, his armor, his horse Silvermane (even though the horse is chestnut and brown in color), and enough supplies to stay out on the road for around three weeks.
