Age: 28
Gender: Male
Profession: Miner / Blacksmith / Tinkerer
Appearance:
A large bear of a man with short rusty brown hair and a thin beard lining his jaw. Standing at 6' 4" and weighing in at a mere 220lbs of thick slabs of muscle, Dorcas dwarfs many. He also sports a strong jaw, solid cheek bones, a several times broken nose, and small brown eyes, a very chiseled rugged look.
Personality:
Dorcas is a reserved and silent man generally keeping to himself in the mines or at a forge. When he does speak he only says what he intends to and nothing more, keeping conversations to a minimum. He does have a strong sense of loyalty and tends to make friends easily even with his lack of speaking. He has a fine eye for ores, gems, and cracks in metal goods. Dorcas is usually found wearing greens and browns though if he is working they tend to turn black or if he is at the forge he uses several black leathers for protection.
History:
Dorcas was born into the life of labor. His mother and father were laborers as well in the territory of Picta. His father died in a cave in and his mother passed away from complications trying to birth his sister, neither survived. Working gave Dorcas plenty of time to build up the muscle he needed to follow his dream of becoming a smith. He became a smith's apprentice at the age of 15, quite old by many standards, but he took to the art quickly. As years passed he got better and better at smithing able to produce many fine goods from horseshoes to arms and armor. He even got a hair-brained idea and made for himself a metal longbow that not many can hold up for long, save himself. As he advanced in skill his master gave him a graduation task which was to find his own ores and craft something that his master could not even do. Several years passed and Dorcas finally finished his task creating a new way to heat up metal to make steel even thinner and lighter but still keep it just as strong. During this endeavor Dorcas also discovered a way of blending iron with steel to keep a weapon light enough and strong enough to be near unbreakable but has yet to master the technique. Now that he has graduated to the title of mastersmith Dorcas travels the land in search of work. During his travels he came across several men who wanted to purchase some of his wares but didn't have enough coin, thinking to himself that it might be good to learn some form of swordplay for defense a trade was made and now he can ably use a sword. For now though he still travels the land in search of knowledge and what he calls the perfect ore.
Additional Details:
Dorcas mainly travels by cart since trying to carry a portable forge is near impossible. He has two draft horses to pull his 'mobile home' and sells his wares on the side of the road occasionally. He carries a sword that he made himself, a long flat blade with no tip for thrusting with, a strengthened mattock that can be used in time of war or for digging in near impenetrable earth, and a bow that uses counter springs for tension, it's not quiet but it gets the job done.
