(OOC; This happens after the events in book 2 or the war with Morgarath))
Not far from the walls of Castle Araluen, a girl sat on a bluff above the river, looking into the clear blue waves. There was hardly anything about her that seemed royal in manner. She wore a peasant's garb and had a cowl that covered up her pale blonde hair. The girl sighed. Since news had come back of Halt's banishment for a twelvemonth, and Cassandra's capture by Skanidains, she had come out to the river's edge to, hopefully see a Wolfship pulling into view, with her cousin waving at her. But absolutely no luck.
The capture of her cousin had but a strain in her relationship with her Uncle, King Duncan, who now thought that she needed a husband to look out for her.
Elizabeth sighed and looked at the small lizard near her. ''Well, Leo,'' she said, standing, and allowing the lizard to climb onto her sholder. ''Lets go run the gauntlet.''
The lizard seemed to frown at the thought of facing King Duncan. She smiled at him. "Don't worry, silly lizard." She said, petting his small head. "I'm sure he won't be that angry at me for sneaking out.....again.."
Leo slid his thin tongue into her ear and hissed, tickling her. You say that every time. He seemed to say.
"I know." She sighed. "But he knows that Cassandra will be treated better than is Will character. Halt's new apprentice." Her face went red a she thought of Gilan. "But anyway," she continued, the new color leaving her face, "I'm sure Will will keep her safe."
--------
In Duncan's study Elizabeth sighed as her uncle paced back and forth behind his desk. ''I was perfectly fine, Uncle.'' She said, her voice weary. ''Its not like I had stalked a guard at God only knows when in the morning!'' She looked at her hands. "And besides, since when did I need a man to take care of me? I've been doing well enough on my own..." Her gray eyes belied her frustration. She reached back a braided her hair and tied it with a pale blue ribbon. "And its not my fault Cassandra helped the Ranger boy, nor that Halt decided to embarrass your office in public on any note."
