Emily looked around the courtyard to Redmount castle and sighed quietly. She had taken on a courier apprentice for Lady Pauline, who had some other business to do. Her blonde hair and black eyes marked her out among the crowd, and most tried to stay away from her. She sighed again and looked around. Ryills...What an unusual name. "Where is she." Emily muttered. "I can't wait all day!"

Ryills was so late! If it wasn't for the detour she had to make around a spilled food cart and what not, she would of made it in time. Of course she was admiring the knights in training a bit beforehand. Ah those men, Ryills stomach felt like it had butterflies when she watches them.
She dashed into the courtyard, her breath coming fast, skidding to a stop she looked around, she made it. Straightening up, she smoothed her hair back and fixed her jacket before looking for the person she was supposed to meet. "Emily.." she muttered to herself, before she could question herself she spotted Emily in the middle. Blond hair and standing tall, Ryills walked calmly over to her, getting her breath back to normal, "Are you Emily?" she asked apporaching the blond haired girl.

"Are you Emily?" Emily took a deep breath and nodded. "Aye, I am Emily. You must be Ryills?" She asked, reaching her hand out. "Pauline's apprentice?" She looked her up and down.

Ryills nodded and shook Emily's hand. "Yes ma'am that would be me. Ryills Perrie, apprentice courier, first year." she added. Luckily her breathing was back to normal, "Sorry for the lateness, I had to take a detour to get here." Ryills said looking at Emily with a slightly apologetic look to her face.

Emily smiled and shrugged. "I was late when I was an apprentice. Only it was 5 hours and not ten minutes..." She shuddered. "Anyway, I have a mission I thought you might want to go on."

Ryills smiled, "Ouch." and then excitement quickly cross her face, "Yes I would love to go on a mission with you." she stopped, and cleared her throat, "Yes, I would be honored to accompany you on your mission." in a quieter tone, looking around making sure no one was cluing in.
"When do we leave? Now?"

Emily bit her lip and nodded, winking. "Yeah," She whispered. "We wouldn't want anyone to know..." She smiled, hoping that Ryills got the joke. "Anyway, we need horses to get where we're going. You do know how to ride, right? If not, I'll teach you on the road."

Ryills have a huge grin, catching on, "Of course not." It was offical, Ryills took a liking to Emily, this will be fun she thought to herself. Snapping herself out of her thought she caught Emily's last words, "to ride, right? If not I'll teach you on the road"..
Ryills nodded, "I do have riding skills, but I'm not a professional by any means, I know enough not to fall off and make a fool of myself." She was excited, she had sowed her clothing just for that, nice looking but also practical for riding and running.

Emily nodded. "That's good! Let's go get our horses and then we'll be on our way.." She walked toward the stables. "So, tell me about yourself. And, I must ask, what do you know about Rangers?" She asked.

Ryills followed, her feet padded softly on the cobblestones. "Well, I never knew my parents, they died in the war, so I grew up in the Ward here at Redmont since I was I think like 3. I got along well with all my ward mates and I was constantly the one that would get them out of the trouble, by negotiating with them, people liked me a lot. Not to sound full of myself and what not." Ryills thought for a moment, "I love to read and write, those were my favorite past times, if I wasn't do that I was out playing with my ward mates running around, get in trouble but always managing to get out of it." she gave a sweet smile and looked down at her feet.
"Rangers, the green cloaked riders right? I dont know much, but Ive been told and heard that they use magic to get around, never talking or you rarely see them. I"ve only seen over the years them coming and going but thats about it, besides the stories people tell me."

Emily looked at the ground and sighed slightly. "I'm sorry about that." She whispered. She shook her head and smiled at Ryills. "Then you have a lot to learn. One; We're not sorcerers....I don't know where they got that. Two;some of them are nice." She laughed. "Until they get angry that is.."

Ryills then realized why Emily seemed so familiar, "Wait, your a R-Ranger?" her jaw dropped slightly, then quickly she snapped it shut and put a nutral face on, "Thats so awesome, did not know that I would be paired up with a Ranger. And I defneitly won't be making you mad, or any Rangers mad." Yes, Ryills was a bit nervous, she was walking with a ranger! She heard so many stories and now she is walking and talking with one.
The paused for a moment, forming her words, "If, you guys don't do magic, how do you disappear and reappear so easily? What is your trick?" They have arrived at the stables and Ryills stopped and looked at Emily.

Emily glanced at her, and smiled. "Its the cloak." She whispered. That was a secret they did not want to be spread. "Plus we train for 5 years in the art of unseen and silent movement." She walked over to a black horse and pet it's neck softly. "This is Spirit. She's one of the...many Ranger horses out there." She slipped into the stall and started brushing out Spirit's hair. "Go get your horse ready, and we'll meet outside in 15 minutes."

Ryills nodded, sorta getting the concept, making a mental note later to try to get more information. Walking pass Emily she walked down to where the couriers horses are, now which one did Pauline show me that was mine.. she thought to herself, ah yes! the big chestnut with a blaze and 4 white stocks black mane and tail. Looking at the horses she finally found her horse, "Hey Frank!" she said as she let herself into the stall, letting Frank sniff her hand. She looked at Frank a bit better, he was a big boned horse with feathers on his feet. Her head barely reached to his back, and from what she remembered he was supposed to be a battlehorse but didn't make the cut, so he was put here as a messenger horse.
Ryills automatically took a liking to him, pulling out of her small statchel an apple, "Here you go boy!" she said, stroking his nose. Picking up a brush she groomed the dust off him, check his feet and sang softly to herself as she worked. Looking around, she spotted his bridal and saddle and tacked him up. It took a bit of effort to tighten the girth around the big horses belly, but finally Ryills made it. "I'll have to start using a stool to tack you up!" she said laughing. She lead Frank outside of the barn to where Emily was waiting on her, tiny shaggy horse. Finding a fence, Ryills somewhat gracefully mounted on Franks back and breathed a sigh of relief, at least she didn't fall off.
"I'm ready." she said smiling, holding back her questions on why Emily's horse was so small.

Emily could tell that the young girl was holding back a storm of questions. She smiled and nodded. "Good. Let's go!" She put her heels into her horse and took off, her mind racing. She slowed down after a minute to let Ryills catch up. "Did you have a question earlier?" She asked, curiously.
