The Araluan Guards (more widely known as The Guard)
Commanding officer (The Captain of the Guard): Sir Ryan Carmentas
Field Commander: Michal Alan Fisk
Size: 500--men and women
The 2 standing rules of the Guard:
1.)Be Prepared For Anything.
2.) Go A and B the C of D(Above and Beyond the Call of Duty).
Organization:The Araluan Guard only helps guard the King at special ceremonies, their main job is to continually patrol the entire kingdom and take care of large groups of outlaws. They act as an emergency response squad sent out to help people when natural disasters, such as flooding, fire, and raids on towns, villages and outlying settlements, strike.Things that are too small to bother the Regular Army with, but large enough to call for action. The Guards are stationed in various fiefs, and the castles pose as a sort of headquarters from which they carry out their patrols. They can act as a defensive force of the army for short periods of time, until the actual army arrives.
Patrols are carried out in groups of no less than 10 and no more than 25 men and women, whereas Scouts are usually in ones or twos. There are different skills represented in each group, with at least one being proficient in the use of the bow, at least half in the use of both spear and sword, and at least one is proficient in tracking.
The patrols last for about a month each, at which time they return to their base to rest up for the next patrol, train, recover from wounds, and recruit the men they need if they have sustained any loses during their patrol. While they do this, the next patrol heads out to start their own patrol. If a patrol has sustained very heavy loses they may abort the patrol and return to base early. In which case the next patrol heads out early, and returns a month later.
Entry Requirements:A person may become a Guard in one of 2 ways.
1.) Guards may be recruited from the Army--if so, they must be skilled in at least one weapon, riding, and have their own horse. They must have been in the Army for at least 6 months prior to being recruited for the Guard. They will participate in a 6 week training program-- both on and off the field--culminating in becoming a full-fledged member of the Guard--if they survive.
2.) For those not in the Army, they may join the Guard-- if so, they must be at least 16 and no older than 21. Those who join start a training program 6 weeks in length, during which time they do not participate in field exercises. They then go on to an apprenticeship lasting an average of 6 months while they gain experience out in the field, after which they become full-fledged members of the Guard--if they survive.
Lastly, to become a full-fledged Guard, they must prove their efficiency with: 1.) the weapon they have been training with2.) horse-riding skills 3.)following orders. Anyone who cannot pass all three tests the first time, will be required to either start over or leave the Guard.
History: A very influential Baron convinced the King to form a new branch of the Army about 5 years before the War in Gallica, putting Ryan in charge and making Fisk Ryan's second in command.
Other Out Of Character Information:
1.) I have to accept your character into the Guard. If I do not accept your character into the Guard, please be patient: I will reply.
2.) Please state what weapon(s)--if any-- your character has or uses, and how skilled they are with it (them).
3.) Please state weather they joined the Guard or were recruited.
