(OOC: This thread is for the posting of classes and class information during the Gathering in Year 657. This includes role-play of your characters in a specific class.)
(Please put the class title at the beginning of each post. Example: (OOC: Tory’s Mounted Archery Class). That should help make it a little easier to figure out which class we are dealing with. It might be best to also role-play through one class before starting another, but I’m not going to hold anyone to that.)

Class Schedule so far:
The First Day:
Will’s Strategy Scenario (First day 9 am at Crowley’s tent – ongoing exercise. You have the whole Gathering to come up with a solution. If you missed the initial explanation, track down Will any time and get the information from him. Description: Will devised a dilemma you might encounter as a ranger. He gives you a list of resources and you have to figure out the best way to overcome the problem. There is no right answer, but ingenuity is encouraged.
Pippin’s Riding Assessment and Tricks (Ongoing throughout Gathering - Make arrangements with Pippin as her schedule allows) Description: Pippin puts you and your horse through a series of tests and determines your riding ability. If she feels you are ready, she will teach you some trick riding that could come in useful during certain situations.
Rick’s Herbal First Aid (Ongoing throughout Gathering – Make arrangements with Rick for one-on-one instruction) Description: Learn what herbs stop bleeding, fend off infection, reduce swelling, ease pain etc. and the proper application and dosages of those herbs. Learn how to make medicinal teas, ointments, poultices and scents.
Gilan’s knife fighting / throwing Class (First day after lunch at the throwing range) Description: Learn how to do hand-to-hand fighting with various knives and their different techniques. Also learn the finer points of throwing knives with precision.
Ringulf’s Axes, Saxes and Pointy Sticks Class (First day after Gilan’s class around 2 pm at the throwing range) Description: Ringulf is putting a Skandian spin onto throwing objects. Learn how to throw things besides your throwing dagger. Bring your own axe or other throwing weapons if available. Some weapons will be supplied at the class. This is a ‘hands-on’ workshop.
Rick’s Fletching Reed Arrows Class (First day, 4 pm at his encampment) Bring 6 arrow shafts and learn how to harvest feathers for fletches, cut them and tie them to your shafts. Learn what types of feathers make better fletches and learn how to make arrows from river reeds instead of pine or other hardwoods.
The Second Day:
Heather's Tasty Travel Rations Recipes (Second and Third day at her camp. Make arrangements to pick up her recipe booklet that contains many recipes for great tasting nutricious travel food as an alternative to standard rations.)
Halt’s Alternative Persuasion Techniques Class (Second day 11 am at Crowley’s tent – providing Crowley comes up with a good enough bribe to entice Halt to teach it. Class is also known as “Aggressive Negotiations”) Description: Anybody’s guess…
Rab’s Archery Class (Second Day 1 pm at the archery range) Description: Learn advanced archery techniques and precision shooting.
Old Bob’s Talking to your Horse Class (Second day 4 pm at Old Bob’s encampment.) Description: This class teaches the less common commands your ranger horse knows and is an in depth study of your horse’s abilities.
The Third Day:
Rick’s Covering your tracks Class (Third day one hour after dawn – muster at the waterfall) Description: Rick will show you various ways to hide your tracks and confuse bloodhounds on your trail. This class lasts three hours and will cover a wide area and multiple terrains.
Tory’s Mounted Archery Class (Third day after lunch at the Archery range) Description: Learn how to shoot your bow in order to hit a stationery target from a cantering horse. Advanced riders may try their hand at hitting a moving target from a moving horse.
Rab and Red’s survival, evasion, resistance, escape tactics (Third day 2 pm Meet at Red’s encampment) Description: the name pretty much sums it up.
Rangers: Feel free to post additional classes that you may want to teach. If you want to learn something, post subject below.
