Age:seventeen
Gender:Female
Profession:apothecarist
Appearance:
[ figure ] Avery's a bit on the short side, standing at 5"4, but this doesn't make her any less intimidating. She has a very slim frame, yet stubbornly lacking in curves. She gives off the appearance of being very fragile, as if she might snap at any given moment, which couldn't possibly contradict reality anymore. When perfectly clear, her bronzed skin is almost porcelain-like. This isn't often though. She's usually inflicted with cuts, scrapes, bruises, others of the sort. She's definitely not beautiful. Those who pass who on the street: Nothing past mere prettiness. Even though it's impossible for Avery to see it in herself, she happens to posses a simple kind of natural beauty, which is enchanced by the simple frocks and dresses she tends to wear.
[ eyes ] Avery's eyes are that of shining amber. Or to be plain, brown-but a brown of more substance, almost like a nearly dead ember, a thick honey left out to dry. And if you look hard enough, they have a mesmerizing kind of effect, the irises almost seeming to move. At first glance, they appear very innocent but don't be fooled. They hold jet black stares that could paralyze even the strongest soul.
[ hair ] Avery's hair is is a midnight black, that falls just below her chest. It has a soft, gentle curl, that, when she walks, moves beautifully with her strides. She hasn't the thickest locks but keeps them healthy, therefore gving them an attractive sheen. Normally, Avery lets her hair fall naturally but occasionally she'll tie it up loosely at the neck.
Personality:
[/size]
Yes. At first look she seems quite the charming young lady. And then...
[ one ] Avery has an incredibly dry sense of humor, sometimes even verging on harsh sarcasm. She could inadveridly end up really injuring someones feelings without being aware of it herself. She's terrible at retaining her own opinions and usually voices them for better or worse. It's not on purpose but everything she says somehow comes across as a sort of wit. Wether she knows this or not it's hard to tell. She keeps a straight face so well. She also has a habit of being a bit c0cky. Avery likes being right and is reluctant to quit even when she knows it would be the best option. Even when it's obvious she's lost a round, she's stubborn to admit it.
[ two ] Avery is a ridiculously stubborn girl. Something that will irritate her the most is disagreeing with her. Once she is certain of something, it takes a hell of a lot to sway her opinions. She can never resist the urge to get the last word in an argument and she is never without a nasty, yet nonetheless accurate argument. If you know Avery, then you know it takes a hell a lot to get her riled up, and she hardly ever gives up until you agree with her. That doesn't mean she goes looking for trouble, but when she sees an opportunity, she leaps at it.
[ three ] Avery is well, blunt. She hardly ever lies, unless it's going to get her farther, or when she needs to get her own way. This honesty can sometimes come off as rude, but when dealing with someone she isn't too fond of, she really isn't too concerned about being polite.
[ four ] Avery has an apparent thirst for thrills and adventure. The rush of adrenaline, a frantic heartbeat, sudden breaths, it sets a fire in her. She's a strong believer in the pursuit of happiness, which for her is that rush of adrenaline. And if that's what she thrives for, if that's what drives her, then there's no way in hell she's going to sit around and wait for it to happen. While this adventurous streak gets her into some trouble, her sharp wits usually save her from any grief. And who doesn't love the thrill of a little challenge and danger?
[ five ] As it turns out, Avery is really a people lover, with different ways of showing it. She may seem hard to approach at first but that's only because she's reluctant to open up to others. Once spoken to, most find out that's not the case. She can and is willing to open up to those who allow her, it's just going to take some time and patience. But mosty patience.

ooc: i'll try to make this short and simple. it was hard to do so with personality though. since it's so important.
I'll make this short, since most people complain that I tend to dramatize and overexaggerate. Ridiculous! I say. Discrimination because I'm a woman! Okay, maybe that was a little dramatic but back to the point.
My mother owns an apothecary in Araluen. She's very good at her job so we get a fair amount of customers each day. Soldiers and commoners alike. She's trying to raise me up in the way she sees fit: which means learning everything I need to to eventually take over her shop. That may sound good to her but I need more than that! Excitement! Thrills! Adventure! That's what I thirst for.
Of course, my dreams seem a bit far off at the moment. My older brother, Ashby, was damned lucky enough to be born first, therefore getting a head start on his career. Obviously he chose the path to become a knight, following the footsteps of my dead father, lost in the battle at Gorlan.
So where did that leave me? Stuck with mom. Helping her run the shop and completeing trivial tasks around Araluen. My mother jokes that I would become a lovely diplomat, since I'm so willing to argue with her and run out into the city. And honestly, that would be a hell of a lot more exciting than this.
I guess I'll just have to see where it takes me. Hopefully it'll be somewhere a bit more exciting than these surroundings. The smell of all the herbs and 'natural remedies' starts to irritate your mind after a while.
