Mivalon beliefed in luck, a belief that was kept alive because of situations like this one. As soon as the lady jumped up and threw a knife at Luvor, he'd dropped to the ground hoping she wouldn't see him. Though she had, his current position had allowed him to move out of the arc of the throw she'd sent him and for that, his luck belief strengthened.
He completed his roll, coming up on one knee before graciously surging forth to regain both his feet. Though he'd seen her head toward the right, he wasn't stupid enough to go after her himself. Instead he sent two others - Curt and Killian. He and the last remaining one, Aj, tried to circle around in two different directions.
Aj didn't bother to hide his comings. He'd been waiting for death to take him for so long, but instead, his extreme liking of challenges and 'courageous' confrontations had got him sent to one of the bases. He wasn't one of the captures, but one of the killers sent out to eliminate those that were too much trouble to capture. But unlike those he served with, he didn't like his work. He didn't not like it either; just didn't care. What was the use of feelings if everything he'd loved had been stolen from him?
For years he'd been putting himself on the front life, hoping that he'd get lucky and take a knife to his heart. His sweet sweet Anna was waiting for him, but she'd been against suicide and in honor of her wishes, he hadn't complied to his own yearnings.
He swung his sword through the grass, trying to better his chances, and when he saw her he let a second pass before moving in to attack. He'd hated killing, but having spent years in the arena had made him immune to its cost and his inability to commit suicide made him fight his hardest. He'd excelled in the ring, killing his opponents too easily, so they'd kicked him out. The Beast hadn't been there before he'd gone or he would've had his wish granted for certain.

Apparently Lea's knife had taken out the archer. "Good', she thought. But the other fellow, the first one, had ducked and her knife went over his head. She saw him give some hand gestures, hanging back while he let two others move in.
It seemed two were coming straight at her; and the leader with one other were trying to circle around her.
Lea was only a few feet from a clump of trees so she stood up, tossed a carefully aimed knife at the guy coming at her with a sword and turned around and ran like hell for the trees, scanning the ground for traps as she ran.
At the last second she saw a snare trap and leapt over it, barely managing to keep from setting it off. She hoped the ranger hadn't gotten captured or killed. Maybe he would have the chance to pick a couple of them off while she ran and they were occupied with chasing her.
She hoped to make the trees and scamper up in one. She was an expert climber and now that their archers were out of the picture, she could climb high in the tree. Even if they followed her up, she could still fight quite easily on the branches and had almost enough throwing knives left to finish them off from above.
As she ran, she threw in a couple handsprings, just in case they were going to try to throw a net on her. That would break up her pattern of running and hopefully throw their aim off. She also kept her arms out away from her sides so she looked like she was running through water with her elbows up parallel to the ground. This was in the hopes that if they threw a rope over her head, they would not trap both her arms.
She only had about 15 feet to cover to reach the first tree. It appeared to have the counterbalance for the snare in it, so she passed that one and targetted the large tree in the center where the branches were high up and out of reach. She undid the dark blue sash tied in a roll around her waist as she ran. She would use it to wrap around the tree to help her climb.
Nearly every item of her clothing served a purpose, yet still looked like normal clothing. Her boots were soft leather on soles with split toes so she could grip things as she climbed and they went up to her knees. The sides of her calf muscles had rough leather so they could help her grip trees and poles with the inside of her legs. The outer side contained her knife sheaths where she kept her long daggers - usually her last line of defence for close-quarter fighting.
She suddenly felt something slam into her left shoulder and then a burning sensation. She reached back, but kept running, and pulled the knife out and tucked it in her belt. 'Thanks for the weapon!'she thought as she ran, ignoring the pain and the blood trickling down from her shoulder blade.

Aj sighed in disappointment as the knife entered his shoulderblade instead of his heart. He pulled it out, letting his blood run free, before giving chase. The other three were behind him, Mivalon being the last of course. He tested the knife in his hand as he ran and as soon as he was able, flicked it toward her. He felt only regret as the knife entered the back of her shoulder. He'd hoped she'd be the one.
He didn't hesitate to follow her as she went up the tree. He used the solid trunk of the tree for leverage, kicking off it to jump high enough to grip the bottom limb. He hauled his stomach over it befeore whipping his legs up to stand. He reached for the next branch as the others circled the tree below him, grinning like fools. Only Mivalon was smart enough to place himself where he could easily duck behind something should she decide to throw another of her deadly knives.

Lea reached the tree and threw her sash around the trunk and swiftly "ran" up the trunk to the first branch. She grabbed it with one hand as she flicked the sash around the trunk above the branch and "ran" up to the next branch. There she climbed normally, the sash draped over her shoulder.
Swiftly she ascended the tree, but she heard the men close in beneath her and felt the tree shake as one climbed up after her.
she move out along a branch, trying to hide in the foilage and looked down.
Seeing an opening, she tossed a dagger nearly straight down into the neck of one of the men standing beneath the tree.
The man in the tree was closing in on her and so she leapt up to the next branch. He was heavy, she was light. as long as she was able to jump to another branch, she could evade him. But would she be able to stop him?

It was quiet. All the other man must have been after Lea. That frustrated Monkuta. He leaped from the tall grass and sprinted after her trail. Dead bodies littered the area around her footprints, which was no surprise. She would be a valuable ally, indeed.
It didn't take long for him to find Lea and her enemy jumping through the trees. It was equally simple to catch up to them on the ground, not having to look for branches to jump to. As he ran, he knocked an arrow, taking less than a second to aim and letting it loose.
He could no longer see any other attackers for the moment, so he planned to disable this one, not kill him. The arrow would connect with his upper left thigh. It would be painful, but it would give them enough time to interrogate him before he bled to death. He shot another arrow for his right shoulder. It would be quite difficult to talk to him if he were still trying to kill them.

As Lea sent a knife into the throat of Curt, Killian and Mivalon ducked behind some cover and stayed there. Mivalon poked his head out for a quick second and spotted the ranger coming after them. He was glad he was out of sight as he heard the whoosh of an arrow fly into the tree the two were currently playing chase in.
-----------------
Aj ignored the arrow as it bedded into the limb where his leg had currently been. He'd launched himself upwards at the sound and had barely missed behing shot. Without a further thought to it, he reach up and gritted his teeth as he began to fall. The arrow meant for his shoulder had entered lower than the ranger had wanted since Aj had moved, and was now embedded into the back of his rib cage. His eyes weren't wide in horror as he fell, but rather starting to close in thankfulness. He hit the few branches beneath him hard and because of it, the arrow twisted beneath his weight, turning to the left to point toward his heart. As he hit the ground on his back, he forced it deeper and within seconds he was dead. A smile on his face.
--------------------
Diga motioned to Gamon and they slipped out of the high grass to chase after the ranger who in turn was chasing after their comrades. Their faces were grim and menacing and with a few final bounds they closed the distance. Gamon leapt through the air, thinking to tackle him to the ground as Diga readied to slice him open with her sword.

Footsteps. Damn. He should have counted the bodies. They were behind him... Two of them. He had an idea, though. Badger had always warned him against it, though, as a child he always loved to prove that he could pull it off. It barely ever worked. However, now was not a time for doubts. He picked up speed, using a log to bound into the air and spin around. He knocked two arrows at once and let loose with some space in between them. One had tried to tackle him and was just landing. He wouldn't be able to avoid it. The other though, that was the questionable one. The path of the arrow was uncertain.
He hit the ground and turned on his heels, continuing after Lea. He wasn't going to stop and wait to see if they lived. If they did, he would hear them. As he ran, he tried to go through the path in his head. How many corpses had he seen? It was difficult, remembering each one and deciding whether it was one of these ten. Including the two on his tail, he decided that four were alive. One had to live and they were running out of targets.
"Lea!" he yelled. "Get down here!"

Lea saw Monkuta break cover and run towards the tree she was leaping around in. Then she saw the two attackers run after him and him turn and shoot at least one of them, possibly both.
"Lea!" he yelled. "Get down here!"
Lea saw her pursuer in the tree get stuck with an arrow and fall to the ground. She was already slipping back down the trunk.
"Watch out! There are still two at the base of the tree!" Lea called back. She had seen where the first guy that had been pursuing her had ducked into cover, though she couldn't see him now.
She angled her descent through the branches towards his hiding spot and leapt from the last branch towards his hiding place, pulling a long dagger from her boot as she flew through the air.
She landed lightly on her feet, springing down with the impact, rolled forward and back up onto her feet.
She danced sideways to get a view of her assailiant, but didn't see him. She twirled a throwing knife in her left hand and taunted them, "come out and play, Little Man! You afraid of a woman?"
Lea hoped the second guy wasn't in position to jump her from behind, then again, maybe she did. Leaping through the tree had driven away her fears and now she was starting to have fun. Now that they were all almost dead.

Gamon snarled as he missed his target, but it was quickly replaced by a growl of pain. The arrow tore through the flesh on his shoulder, but he needn't have worried over removing it later. At such close quarters, it held enough momentum to exit out the other side. He stumbled a second with the force of it, but did not fall, and carried on.
--------------
Diga was lucky her lover got shot at first, giving her just enough time to anticipate the next one and easily block it. She sneered as she did so, triumphet in her victory - a victory that didn't last.
Shocked, mouth open in suprise, she looked down a second before collapsing to her knees. Her hands went to her stomach where the arrow meant for Gamon lay pierced through her flesh. Blood trickled up her throat and came slowly from her mouth. Another second later she was lying face down in the ground, her swords clattered around her, in pain, but not yet dead.

"Come out and play, Little Man! You afraid of a woman?"
Mivalon didn't fall for the taunt. He'd known too many women who he was very well afraid of though would never show it. He readied the rope in his hand and since there was no other way out, he quickly stepped out, slammed it toward her head, and took off running in a zigzag pattern. He dashed through the woods, trying to lose them and make his way back to the base.
--------------------
Killian cursed at Mivalon's leaving. He didn't think they'd seen him yet, but his pride wouldn't let him slip away. Her back was toward him and having spent almost zero time in the ring, he threw one of his knives at her backside and charged forth. And then he saw the ranger, but his fear was quickly replaced as his eyes also caught Gamon chasing after him. Two on two were fair enough odds. All he had to do was stay close to her so he wouldn't get shot. He was handy with a knife and doubted that she'd be able to win against him.
With a snarl he drew another one and came in close, swiping at her midsection three seconds after having thrown the first knife.

Lea saw the first man toss something at her head and she ducked, throwing up her right arm with the long dagger laid across her foreharm to block it. The huge knot on the end of the rope he threw at her sailed just a fraction over her head as she ducked, distracting her long enough to keep her from throwing a dagger into his backside as he ran away.
Lea noted the direction and then felt a dagger tear into her flesh and stick in her lower ribs, not penetrating far enough to puncture her lung, but causing enough pain that she sucked in her breath. She heard a snarl behind her and spun around just as a knife came slashing at her stomach.
The first slash cut her good, but she jumped back and managed to deflect the other two slashes with her right hand. At the same time, she tried to plunge the small dagger in her left hand into her assailant's neck.
She was bleeding pretty bad from the slash to her stomach, but didn't even notice it. Her attention focused on the man's face and on listening for souns of the other guy coming up behind her.

There was a lot happening. Monkuta didn't like that. There was no way to tell which one was the diversion. Monkuta saw the dagger in the air moments after it left the man's hands. Definitely not a diversion. Unfortunately, he couldn't get to her in time. He knew that and because of it, didn't move to defend her. He was too far away.
He turned back to the man chasing him. He was hardly a threat anymore. Monkuta knocked an arrow and sent it soaring into his right knee. They had to leave at least one alive and it may as well be him.

Killian snarled with pleasure as his knife sliced across her stomach, but his next two attacks were blocked and his patience began to thin once again. His anger got in the way, leaving him open to take her knife in his throat. Within a few gurgles of breath, he was dead.
---------------
Gamon screamed in anger as the arrow entered his kneecap and rendered him unable to fight. He pulled out on of his knives and with a sneer sent it back toward the ranger.

Monkuta found no real challenge in stepping out of the way of the dagger. The man was still quite far away and his aim was skewed from the arrow in his knee. He suspected that the only thing keeping the man standing up was pure pride and stubbornness. It was quiet. Was that all of them? He turned to lea for confirmation.

Lea spun back around as the last guy went down with a gurgle. She didn't see the leader, he had managed to sneak off.
She pulled the dagger out of her back and looked around for any others.
"The leader of this bunch got away as did the leader that had Marina. I think they went that way." Lea pointed in the direction Mivalon had taken before he disappeared.
She was loosing a fair amount of blood from the slash on her stomach and she pulled apart the fabric that the knife had slashed through to examine the wound. It would definately leave a scar, but it didn't appear to have cut her organs or guts. The knife wound in her back was almost at the same level so she wrapped her sash around them both and drew it as tight as she could and still be able to breath.
"I am going to need to see a healer I think, at some point. But we need to find Josh first." Lea said as she sat down on the ground to rest. She was getting a bit dizzy.
