Name: Gilan
Age: Unknown (But Flannigan states that he is in his twenties)
Gender: Male
type of apprentice: Ranger (Silver Oakleaf i.e. no longer an apprentice)
Appearance: Gilan is tall and thin, a handsome young man with fair skin, short brown hair and deep blue eyes. He is seldom seen without a smile on his face and his sword by his side.
Attitude: Gilan is best known for his good nature and cheerfulness; because of this he is very good with people and makes them feel at ease when around him. Despite this he is a very dedicated and serious ranger, often covering up his fears and worries with his humorous, witty and seemingly uncaring attitude in order to calm others down. Gilan is eager and capable, and never misses a chance to try and catch out his old master, Halt.
History: Having been born the son of Sir Rodney, the battle-master of Redmont, Gilan has been trained with the sword from a young age. Because of this, not only is he one of the only rangers using a sword, but he is also one of the finest swordsmen in Araluen. Being son of the battle-master, Gilan was guaranteed a place in the battle-school, however he had always wanted to become a ranger. With his father and Halt being close friends, Gilan had been well acquainted with the grizzled ranger for a very long time, and so, unlike most in the fief, wasn’t wary of the mysterious group; indeed he was intrigued by the reserved and secretive guild.
One fateful day Gilan’s curiosity got the better of him and he decided to trail Halt through the woods. Being skilled in ‘unseen movement’ the young boy was well aware of the technique and proud that he had been able to follow a ranger for so long without being caught. As Halt stopped to rest Gilan hoped to jump out of the shadows, catching the experienced ranger by surprise; unfortunately, Halt had been totally aware of Gilan’s presence every step of the way and, just as he was jumping out of the shadows, threw the young boy into a nearby pond.
Seeing the potential in the mischievous boy Halt accepted him as an apprentice and trained him for the full five years. When Gilan was finally a qualified ranger he was assigned to the Meric fief, where he currently resides training his young charge, Tuor.
Other: Owns a ranger pony called ‘Blaze’
Gilan is Halt’s former apprentice
Currently the Ranger of the Meric feif
Currently training Tuor
One of the only rangers able to use a sword (along with his apprentice, Tuor)
One of the best ‘unseen movers’ in the Ranger corps
I hope this is OK, I thought since I already have his apprentice, it makes sense to apply for Gilan, otherwise it would make creating threads involving Tuor very difficult.
Should I wait for this application to be accepted, or can I just do so myself?
