Armored Combat, Advanced Category, Round 4
Henry Dell Advanced Category round 2 longsword and shield Skill level: 16 Armor: Full Armor (-6 from your roll) Shield: yes (minus 4 from your roll)
Henry had watched the match between Heathbruin and Omensinger with great interest. He had already lost to Omen and wondered if he could best this formidable Scotti warrior. The man reminded him much of an old friend of his and Katrina's in his fighting style.
He readied himself and launched a spirited attack as soon as the horn sounded.
4 Right arm (light damage – flesh wound, bruise) 4 + 16 = 20 minus 4 = 16 Total 16

Heathbruin Two handed sword Skill level 17 Armor: studded leather bracers, greives broad belt and helm (moderate armor -4)
Heath salute Henry and tries to formulate a strategy using stregnth and reach against Henry's swifter sword and more protective shield.
He rolls:10 Glancing blow (very little to no damage inflicted)
10+17=27-6=21
Heath uses a Scotti Strategy that is well tested against the Araluen man at arms he drives in an attack charging toward Henry's right then darts to the sheild side and sweeps his sword low to take Henry's legs wilh the two hander....It works!
20 to 16 Heath1 - Henry 0

Henry feels his legs being mowed out from under him and rolls with it, using the momentum of his fall to roll right back up onto his feet, his sword and shield at the ready. He immediately launches into an attack, waiting for a chance to get the drop on the Scotti.
9 Torso front (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
9 + 16 - 4 = 21
Heath manages to block Henry's jab at his stomach and the blow lands lightly.

Heath sees Henry's roll and admires his agility but as part of Heaths continued strategy he continues to cirle quickly to Henry's left so that Henry has to throw strikes over his shield in a more or less limited and predictable maner, making Heaths job of defence a bit easier.
He rolls: 1 Fumble (attacker drops weapon, trips, string breaks etc.)
As he does so he failes to see the divit that was taken out of the turf by some previous weapon strike and steps into it tripping in his side stepping movement to the ground. He to springs up and tries to quickly counter his rotation and go the other way as Henry has caught up to him.

Henry shakes his head at his luck, or lack thereof and settles into a sword dance with Heath. They move as if they had corriagraphed the fight, neither giving up an inch. Henry concentrates, knowing if he looses this point it is all over for him for this match.
14 Left leg (severe damage – deep cut, bone breakage)
14 + 16 - 4 = 26
Henry lands a blow to Heath's leg, but he doesn't think it will be enough. He switches to defense, trying to keep the greatsword from touching him and to figure out what the Scotti will try next.

This is a tough opponent a veteran Araluen man at arms the kind who Heath has encounterd many times in his military career. but one who has also met his kind in battle and knows what to expect, so Heath treis something he won't expect, He aims a piercing thrust directed to Henry's chest and as Henry starts to block with his shield he changes the trajectory to his forward leg under his shield.
Heath rolls: 7 Head (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
7+17=24-6=18
Henry is too wary and drops his shield down denying entry, Drat!
2 to 1

"You Scotti always come up with the most ingenous tricks!" Henry grins at Heath. "Perhaps it is time you saw an Araluen trick or two." A sparkle comes into Henry's eye and he feints a blow to Heath's head on Henry's off-side, but as Heath moves to block it, Henry spins his entire body around and brings his sword down toward the ground and then back up right under Heath's left arm in a solid blow to the ribs and armpit as Henry continues the spin, ending up facing his opponent's back.
20 Critical hit (inflict such a severe injury that death is imminent or a “called” shot) 20 + 16 - 4 = 32
"That was a little trick Sir Katrina had up her sleeve for me one time." Henry winced, remembering the blow. "I am sorry you are going to have a nasty bruise there for a while."
Unfortunately the grin on Henry's face betrayed his real feelings.

Henry parried and pressed onward.
4 Right arm (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
His leg was still a bit numb from that last blow and Henry stumbled a bit as he tried another trick maneuver. It failed miserably.
4 + 16 - 4 = 16
Unless Heath really messed up, the match was over for Henry. He tried his best to defend against Heath's next little surprise.

Taking a page from Henry's book Heath does his own Scotti spin and rolls around Henry's shield to his left bringing his sword down on Henry's calves.
He rolls: 4 Right arm (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
4+17=21-6=15
Henry's sheild came down forcefully into the ground as he turned and thrust the tip earthwards denying once more with his portcullis like sheild work the Scotti's ending move. Henry's leg shot on Heath the last one given wins the match!
"Tha' was a fine example o' the wey tew use a shield, Ah am in yewr debt for th' lesson!" says Heath with a smile as he offers Henry his hand.

Henry shakes his hand. "Great match! I am glad our two countries are not the rivals they once were. You Scotti are great fighters and good friends!" He says warmly. "Come visit me in Norgate sometime if you get the chance. We can do a little more sparring and maybe teach eachother some new tricks."
