Profession: Ranger's apprentice
Appearance:
Adriane is relatively short, typical of most Rangers. She stands at least 5''2 give or take an inch or so. Adriane is built lightly, typical girlish figure, not someone you would expect to handle a bow or knife. She weighs about 130 lbs. but looks less than a hundred. Piercing, dark brown eyes, that seem to lighten or darken depending on the situation, will meet your wandering eyes and examine you quickly. Dark, rich straight brown hair is kept shortish about to her shoulder blades. Though most of the time this is kept back in a ponytail or something similar. You won't see her hair down often. Her clothes are usually covered in dust or dirt or mud or grass, she's a definite tomboy. Unless you force or persuade her, Adriane will not wear a dress. She hates how it gets in her way when she's wandering around running and playing rough or just doing chores. So instead she'll wear breeches, boots, and a shirt, mistaken often for a boy until someone sees her hair that is longer than typical boy would have.Personality:
When Adriane was younger, she was a 'storm of trouble' as people would put it. Always getting into mischief with the local boys, who accepted her once she proved that she was worth their time. Or after Adriane quickly gave them a bloody nose. Now-days though, she's mellowed down into a quiet 'strange' girl. Adriane is the outsider of the crowd, seemingly shy and awkward. Though, of course, this isn't the case. Really she's taking in all the routine sights and recording any strange ones. All of this is locked away into that memory bank to use for a later--or earlier--date. Adriane doesn't talk unless spoken to or if she has a good reason to. This girl isn't afraid to voice her opinions, don't get her wrong there. Adriane learns quickly and has a soft spot for most animals. Particularly horses. Rough housing with the boys has taken its toll as well. So if Adriane ever chose to get into a scrap with someone, she could pull all those dirty tricks boys are renowned for doing.History:
Adriane doesn't really have an exciting history. It's quite bland to tell you the truth. She grew up as the daughter of a local horse dealer in a small house a little bit away from the small village, which is why she loves horses has much as she does. Her mother died when Adriane was about three. This could possibly explain the reason why Adriane's a rough and tumble tomboy, being raised by her father. To add to that, her father always wanted a son and Adriane always wanted to be a boy. After all girls just don't have any fun now do they? This led to Adriane's father teaching her how to ride and handle horses, deal with livestock, and hunt with a bow. Not that it was anything like a Ranger's bow, it was just a typical hunting bow. Turns out Adriane was pretty good after a few sessions wither her father and a few (shh) practice sessions of her own.Additional Information:
Now more than likely your wondering how in the world Adriane found out about the Rangers. Of course, their were the local legends stuff like Halt's and Will's adventures and deeds going around but Adriane was curious. She wondered if their were any girls in the Corps because it sure sounded like a place where the boys held the crown. When Adriane saw a small shaggy pony with a cloaked, hooded rider coming through their small village she decided to follow them. Trying not to make any noise and blend in with her surroundings, Adriane tried to keep the pair in sight all the way to the village. When the Ranger dismounted and went into the village inn, though at the time Adriane had no clue it was the local Ranger, Adriane went to the small horse, quite intrigued. After all you don't see a horse till you see a Ranger's horse! The animal wasn't very impressive but very intelligent. The most intelligence that Adriane had ever seen in a horse. She wondered about what the horse knew, about what it had seen and experienced with its rather mysterious rider. Now you know Rangers, they tend know when someone was following them or had and eye on them. So the Ranger that Adriane had followed knew she was there. Just not that she was a girl. Adriane slipped away from the horse as the Ranger came out of the inn. Silently hoping that he wouldn't take too much notice of her, she causally started back home. Leaving the Ranger with a big hint that she had been the one following him. That's where the past ends and the present begins.
Adriane has a three year old border collie/German shepherd mixed looking thing. He has black fur with a white under-belly. She calls him Bolder. Bolder has a sweet, friendly disposition, but can 'go get em' at Adriane's command. Though he can be weary of stranger's, letting out a growl or two, but usually nothing more. Bolder follows Adriane around, only if she wants him too but most the time she does, rarely causing any trouble or getting underfoot.
Adriane's Ranger horse is named Lightning. He is a bay stallion with a white star that likes to get himself into reasonable mischief when he's not 'on the job'. You could say Lightning has a sense of humor. But Adriane loves him for that anyway. Lightning also loves to have a good long gallop, Adriane tries to give him one every chance she gets.
Adriane's nick name is Stormy, due to her last name. Most people she meets wouldn't call her that but people that are her friends do, if she lets them in on the 'secret'. People used to joke that she either was a storm of trouble or she brought a storm of trouble with her. That could still be true or apply now-a-days.
