[OPEN - one year ago]
Marina had been dragged through the endless tunnels a few hours before and was now sitting in a cell with barely enough light for her to see the walls. There was a lump in another of the corners, but it hadn't moved and she hadn't the spirit to inspect whoever, or whatever it was. So she sat and waited for a chance to strike. They had to bring her out sometime or bring her food or something. All she needed was a chance. So she sat and waited, and wished she still had her bloody weapons.

Food it seemed came all by itself. Hard biscuits were thrown between the bars and she glared at them while they laughed and finally left. There was no way she was going to eat them, but she didn't even have a choice in the matter as they were quickly grapped and consumed by the lump in the corner. It kept in that crouch and she wasn't sure if it was boy or girl, adult or child, but she did know it was hungry. She wondered briefly if it was hungry enough to go cannibal, then decided she didn't want to know and scooted toward the other side of the cage. Where was Monkuta? And she thought he was slow before. She sent him a curse as she sat there, hating the fact that he might've been captured as well. And then where would she be? Eaten by the lump?

What seemed like hours, but was only fifteen minutes, went by without much change. The Lump kept to him/her/it-self and Marina stayed well away from it. No more food. Nothing but dirt and the stank scent upon the air. She tried to distinguish it out of sheer boredom and figured it had to be a mixture of a water closet or something just as dire. Thinking about it led her to wonder where she would go should she need to. In a corner? But what about privacy? Is there any privacy here? Probably not. These bars - she gripped one in each hand - have spaces between them. But maybe if someone hung something on them - tied it from a little higher. She flicked her eyes up to look above her. Yeah, that'd probably work. And then it'd hang over the cage and give me some privacy. Not that I have to go, but if I had to, I guess I could always ask. I wonder, if I ask, if they'll give me some good food too or better yet, the keys. A second pass before she cocked her head, bit her bottom lip, and then decided to check out the lock.
She held it in her hand as her thoughts continued...Seems familiar, but then again itis a lock and all locks look familiar. Just like a piece of grass looks like every other piece of grass. Though every tree doesn't look like every other tree. Yeah, there's ones with fruit and others with flowers and still others with just leaves. And the bark looks different too. Sometimes it's smooth, other times it's rough. And even the rough kind looks different sometimes. When they're cut up their wood looks different too - different shades and textures. Hm...I wonder what kind of wood this is. She released the lock to run her fingers back down one of the bars. I have no idea. Too dark to see. Well, that's kind of like privacy right? The darkness. I suppose so. I wonder what they do for light around here...

Marina jerked to alertness when the cage door opened, but before she could pounce, the Lump beat her too it. Obviously that thing - whatever it was - hated being caged. She stood back in awe for a few moments, thanking the heavens that the thing wasn't cannibal...or rather, that it thought she wouldn't taste good seeing on how the Lump had just bitten the guy...
Right. She shook herself out of her 'shock' and jumped into the fray. She managed to get in a few hits before jerking back having almost gotten bitten. Another obvious, the Lump didn't care who it bit. Figuring it could take care of itself and she didn't have much time, she turned in a random direction and ran, hoping she was heading for the nearest exit...

Shouts and screams errupted behind her, causing her to pour on more speed. She skidded around another corner, hand going out to 'swing' her around the edge. She stumbled a few steps before righting herself, but by that time, she clearly heard the sound of footsteps, and a lot of them, behind her.
She risked a chance behind her and her eyes shot wide at the sight of the Lump hurrying behind her. Man, could it move. It sure was gaining on her and Marina was fast from hours of practice a day.
She turned her head back around to put on another burst of speed, but ended up running into a wall. She yelped as her nose smacked right into it and she landed on her butt, scowling at the stupid corner. She ignored the feel of blood in her throat as she picked herself back up and started running again.
The Lump soon passed her and Marina's mouth dropped open. There was a person under there! But what was 'there' she couldn't exactly say...nor even guess at...

Marina was starting to choke on her own blood and so she took a detour as soon as she was able. She hid in the cranny of a wall, squatting low to keep in the shadows as the guards passed. She hoped there weren't any stragglers and after taking a deep breath in anticipation, she peaked out behind the edge of the wall of the cranny. Seeing no one, she breathed a sigh of relief and sagged against the stone wall behind her, only to lurch further back as it 'disappeared' [OOC: there was nothing behind her] She flung her limbs widely as she tried to keep herself from falling, her eyes growing wide as she somehow 'went through the floor.' [OOC: she fell off a ledge] Her mind was so twisted and puzzled right now, she was finding it hard to think. First the Lump, then no wall, and now no floor. What was this place?
"Oof!"
She scowled as she picked herself up and rubbed her backside. Whatever it was, it was obviously solid and dark. And full of death by the horrid sound of buzzing. Flies were everywhere. She jumped and jolted when one touched her, then immediately scolded herself. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down and then wiped the blood from her nose, wincing as her arm scraped across it. She hoped it wasn't broke, but it sure did feel that way...

Marina took a step in a random direction, banging toes into something solid. She hissed in her breath before reaching out her hand to find empty air. Puzzled, she leaned foward and fell, then cursed as mutiple sharp somethings dug into her hip. Somethings very similar to ledges. Scowling, she lifted her leg and stepped up, walking up the stairs to the unknown. The buzzing was growing louder and she suddenly scolded herself when she realized it hadn't been flies, but the buzz of a crowd. A very big crowd. And there was light up ahead! She broke into a run, the thought of civilization being a salvation to her. She bound up the steps in relief, ignoring the blood pooling in the back of her throat again. By the time she froze, it was already too late. She was in the light and by the increasing roar, she'd been seen. [continues in the Marina "Trouble" McOwen]
