Unto all Rangers of Araluen
From Commandant Ranger Crowley
For Ranger’s information only…
Greetings!
It is with both sadness and pleasure that I announce the retirement of one of our own, Shanna Horsetrader. Shanna has chosen to set aside the wandering life and settle down to make a family and has, at least for now, requested an early retirement from the Ranger Corps.
After careful consideration of her plea and the state of the country, I regretfully accepted her retirement offer. For the last several years Shanna has been an agent overseas, keeping us abreast of changes in Gallica, Teutdlandt, Alpina, Toscano and Iberion. We shall be all the weaker without her particular skills in information gathering, but I could not in good conscious deny her the chance to raise a family.
There will be a formal ceremony at the next Gathering honoring her service and I hope that many of you can turn out for the wedding in Meric once the plans have been arranged.
Anyone wishing to take up her duties abroad should put in a petition before Yule for reassignment.
Please join me in congratulating Shanna on her achievements and her upcoming wedding at the next Gathering.
On a more business note, full reports of your fief’s condition are expected at the Gathering, as usual. Pay particular attention to the patterns any bandits may be employing. I expect full details on the state of your fief, given these troubled times.
The captors of the King have not yet been located, nor is his whereabouts known. As of the date of this missive we have not received any note of ransom. The Princess is holding up well under the challenge of ruling the country in his absence, but it wears on her. Time is of the essence in finding His Majesty. Report anything you think might lead to his whereabouts, no matter how insignificant. The Ranger Corps, Royal Scouts and Regular Army are working diligently together to solve this crime and restore our King to his throne. Please give these other branches your cooperation as needed. Utilize their services, as well as that of the Araluen Guard, to squelch any illegal activity in your fief if you are not able to resolve the matter yourself.
We have recently had an influx of apprentices. I will be making assignments at the Gathering, so for those of you who do not have an apprentice, you might as well volunteer and save yourself a headache.
Above all take care of yourselves and your apprentices.
Yours In Service,
Crowley
