Night's usual air of confidence was fading fast as he stepped into another tavern cities away from his own. His throat was parched despite the agreeable weather outside and his eyes couldn't seem to sit still. His skin crawled with the paranoia of being watched and he dug his hands into his pockets to keep their shaking from being seen. Swallowing once, he strode toward the bar and settled himself on the far end, sitting to where his back faced more wall than room. He ordered a simple scotch to help calm his nerves, but didn't dare drink more than a single sip - he'd need all of his wits if he were to leave here successfully, and successfully he must if he hoped for any future at all. This time when his eyes swept the room, it was with a purposeful determination. It took him two sweeps before he spotted man he'd traveled all this way to find and he immediately straightened in a subconscious need to appear stronger and more confident than he actually was. Despite that the man was merely a sell-sword and so way more qualified as a mercenary or bodyguard than a tracker or receiver, he was one of the very few that Night was almost positive wasn't under the payment of the demon mocking him. And in this game, trust went a lot further than skill. However, still with a lingering doubt pushing at the barriers of his mind, he kept his seat in watchful silence. One could never be too sure when trying to escape one so manipulatively cunning. Raising his glass to his lips once again, he watched with careful eyes as a woman of obvious wealth and displacement sauntered up to the man he desperately needed. ~ * ~ Reneé made sure to keep her chin up and her walk confident as she crossed the room to the man fitting the description her sister had given to her nearly four days ago. Despite that she wasn't exactly new at this kind of thing, it was her first time going solo and none of her training seemed to be of much help in calming her internally expressed nerves. However on the outside she undoubtedly seemed quite calm...and wealthy given the amount of furs, albeit stolen, she was covered in. She ignored the many men who called to her and gritted her teeth to keep from retaliating on those who cupped a feel as she went by. She had been warned of her predicament given her attire, but in the overall scheme of things the consequences held little light to those if she succeeded. With any luck, she would pass whatever test he threw at her...with higher skepticism, her "obvious" wealth would lean him more in her favour. Despite the low chance of the latter actually happening...too much hung on the balance for them to lose this close to the end. Breathing a little deeper than usual, she took her seat across from him. "Do you kiss and tell?"

Arguably the most popular tavern in Meric Fief, Xanadu was crowded this night just as it was most nights. The warm glow of the fireplaces and oil lamps illuminated most of the large room. In one of the corners, an outlander sat at a square maple table with his back to the wall and an empty chair across from him. He wore strange clothing—a mix of several styles of garments from different nations. The hand–and–a–half sword leaning against the wall within easy reach marked him as a warrior. He licked his lips as he finished a bowl of mutton stew and pushed the empty dish out of his way. Kicking back to relax, he rested his booted feet on the table, slid a dull dagger from its sheath on his belt, and began sharpening it on a whetstone. He paid no mind to Reneé even after she sat down in the seat directly across from him. It seemed his reputation in these parts was spreading already, and he had only been in town for a little over three weeks. To the north around Norgate, he was already renowned for his skill as a mercenary, and the locals knew he was the best at what he did despite his high service fees.
"Do you kiss and tell?" the lady asked.
"I'm not in that line of work, no," he replied in his deep voice. The outlander stopped his work and peered over the top of his boots at the lady. His eyes swept over the expensive furs she wore. Setting the blade and stone on the table, he brought his feet back onto the floor, scooted his chair in, and leaned forward slightly with his hands clasped together in front of him. His demeanor conveyed interest.
“What can I do for ya?" The corners of his mouth twitched upward, hinting at a smile. "I'm Palisade,” he said, offering his hand for a shake. "Sir Riot Palisade."

"Granuille." The name slithered off her tongue as it were true.
"Your reputation may be young, but it's been growing fast for these past few months and that sir, has caught my eye." The "me" the other hand, came off a lot less fluidly.
Making the demands from a singular person's view when belonging to a group of hunters felt weird upon her tongue. However, it was a rule amongst them that they never failed to keep - the less people knew about their secret feud the better. Werewolves were a thing of myth in society's mind; what chaos would occur if they tried to understand the full truth? It was because of this potential chaos, that one couldn't simply join the Hunters; they had to be born into it for the training had to begin just a few years after birth.
Reneé herself had gone through a decade and a half of training and she was barely an adult. Raised on the true nightmares of legend, her mind was molded to accept the seemingly impossible. Trained to specifically fight the werewolves, her body was molded to take the seemingly increased power of their blows, to react a little faster to their almost inhuman speed. However, even with all of her training there was a mile between their performances. They didn't seem to need to eat or sleep as much and so always managed to keep just those three steps ahead of the majority of their hunters. And then, there was of course, their wolf half to look out for. Hence, her reason for being here. Sometimes outside help or bait was just needed.
"As for what you can do for me Mr. Palisade, you just have to lend us your sword for the killing of one man. You will be well paid; 100 gold - he is quite a thorn in my side, you see. You'll get half when you accept; half when you finish." In truth, the price was a little high, but she had been told to flaunt her wealth - as if losing 100 gold wasn't even worth considering a loss. Plus, there was a high chance wouldn't come out alive so they'd only lose 50 and that they could probably recollect after death. Despite how much she hated bringing in outsiders for the sole purpose of dying, the risks were too high if Lykan's plans were to succeed.

Nissa was sitting at a table when the stranger walked in. She watched them a little interested but didn't make it obvious. She watched as they ordered a drink then went over to a table to talk to another person. She sipped at her hot coffee watching them wondering what they were talking about. Might be something worthwhile or it could not be. She bit her lip wondering if she should risk getting closer to hear what they were saying. But perhaps that was a very bad idea. She didn't want them to know and in this setting there just wasn't a good scenario for her to come up with to get closer without being noticed. She sighed she would just have to settle with never knowing. That was just her lot sometimes besides she didn't want her face to be a familiar one, she was wanted and she didn't need anyone recognizing her at a later date in time. She drained the rest of her coffee and just sat there by the fire watching the strangers converse desperately wanting to know what they were talking about.

Then another cloaked man walked in. He had a spear strapped to his back, but was clearly a Ranger. He saw someone he recognized and realized she was a wanted person. So, he took a table near her, and ordered a drink and some food.

Nissa noticed the ranger walk in and immediately her heart started to beat faster but she forced her self to appear calm. She slouched in her chair comfortably quietly easing her chair back from the table, she held her coffee mug in one had the other dropped to her side almost out of sight. She had no doubt that the ranger knew her but maybe she could get away clean. If he moved for her hand was in a position so that she had little ways to go to bring out the dagger in her boot. She would throw it at him and then bolt out the door which she was conveniently by. Hopefully with luck it would give her a big head start. She watched him out of the corner of her eye, to any one of these people it just looked like she was tired and didn't know the ranger at all. She would like to keep it that way, but now she was a tad nervous that someone else would recognize her to.

The Ranger, Jonah, went ahead and called a waitress for a hardy meal and a good cup of coffee, as all Rangers like. He again glanced over at the figure, who, to his surprise, seemed to show hardly any fear of his presence and looked quite casual and tired. His mind was working to figure out a way to deal with her, and also about what she was capable of doing. He looked around the room, and took in the nice fragrance of the food, and the hardy laughter coming from the fire place. He viewed to see where all the exits were, knowing that she might attempt to escape.

The longer Nissa sat there the more tense she became. But of course she didn't let it show. She drank the rest of her coffee set down her cup and deliberately got to her feet. It was time she was off, she grabbed her shadow gray cloak off the back of her chair and without looking at the ranger walked casually out the door her heart hammering in her chest. Once outside she swept the cloak around her and brought her dagger out. It flashed in the moonlight she quickly found a hiding spot where she could watch the door and waited. She'd give him a full ten minutes to come after her then she would jump on her horse and gallop away into the night with no one the wiser.

The Ranger saw her leave, but didn't pursue, for fear it may look suspicious that he left right after the girl. Jonah continued to leisurely eat the food he had just received. He loved the taste of the coffee, especially. After the meal was quickly devoured, he got up out of his seat and headed for the rear door. He knew the girl was probably waiting for some point to catch him while he wasn't aware, but he was a Ranger, he was always well aware of his surroundings. When he left the tavern, he silently crept toward the rooftop, and nimbly climbed up. He wanted to scope out where the girl could have or will be going. Once Jonah was satisfied, he effortlessly leaped down from the rooftop, and preceded to sneak around the side of the building opposite the girl.

Nissa sat there glancing at the moon from time to time trying to judge how long she had been waiting. She straightened up from her crouched position he hadn't come after right away so chances were he didn't recognize her as one of the top five people on the wanted list. Or he was stalking her, she shivered at that thought but shook it off. He hadn't of made any outward sign that he recognized her and he had made no move to stop her when she exited either so she could always hope for the best. She looked around her then making sure no one was looking, she took he r knife and cut the ropes of one of the horses. She nimbly climbed up onto the hitching post then hopped up on the big horse. Sh e look practically like a child on top of a beast so big but she needed the speed and she knew how to ride. She backed the horse up. "Come on boy that's come on good boy good boy little bit more you're such a good boy." she patted the horses neck as she talked soothingly to it. He was a little unsure about this knew person riding him but he didn't sense any unease from the rider and the human sat well so he supposed he didn't mind. Besides he was getting rather board standing out here in the dark with nothing to eat or drink while his master stuffed himself. She turned the horse toward the dim smudge on the horizon that was the forest where she had made her home. She gently kicked the horse in the sides with her heels and he started trotting off. Her legs bounced along with horse gait her short legs not even remotely reaching the stirrups but she didn't care she preferred bare back anyway. "Good boy."

Jonah heard ans saw the girl leave leave on horseback, and once she was a good distance away, he went over to his horse, Zinger, and mounted him. With one word, they trotted off, and all the while the Ranger had his eyes on the ground, easily following the tracks.

Nissa who sometimes had a problem with being overly confident, which often got her into trouble. Didn't look behind her as she took off to the woods if she had she would have seen the ranger following her, but she was so sure that no one was following her that she didn't glance back even once. It was a mistake she would later regret of course and one she would never make again. When they reached the woods she smiled and hopped off the horse she patted his neck and rubbed his nose. "Thank you so much for the lift boy but I can take it from here." she sent the horse off into the night he eventually either wander back home or back into town where someone would find him and return him, or keep him either way she didn't give the horse another thought as she entered the woods. She loved the woods she always felt at home here, even if she had been chased through it a number of times. It was home to her and she knew the woods even better than the rangers did a fact she was very proud of, anything to get back at rangers was a good enough reason to do it for her. She found her bow and quiver where she had left them concealed at the foot of a large tree. She had also left a lantern there, strapping the bow and quiver on she felt a little more confident she always did, weapons where pretty much her only friends. She lit the lantern held it up and set off deeper into the woods, her ears pricked for any night time predators who might think she was a good snack.

Jonah continued to follow the girl. As he saw her slowing down and stopping in front of the woods, he quickly clicked at Zinger to move to a nearby bush. He peeked around the bush, seeing the horse run off. As the suspect entered the woods, he quietly crept toward them. He had his bow strung on his shoulder, though he hoped to take the girl alive. He followed the girls tracks, hoping to catch her by surprise, and be able to capture her. As he lurked in the shadows, he saw her. He knew he had to follow her more, though, to see where she would be going.

Nissa sighed a little as she walked, it had been a long day and she still had another five minutes to go. Holding her lantern out she continued to walk through the dark woods. She made it to the small camp she called home for the moment, she set the lantern down and used it to light a small fire. She took off her bow and quiver and set them next to her blankets. She then blew out her lantern and added a few more logs to get a more substantial fire going. She sat down and took off her boots yawning hugely she took her boot knife and jammed it by her head when she lay down in the ground. She stretched her arms over her head then laid down on her blankets and pulled one over herself and stared at the fire it was small but warm and the nice crackling sound was putting her to sleep quite nicely. Her eyes were drifting closed.

Jonah grinned to himself- this would be too easy a capture. The girl was stretched out on the ground. She looked a little sleepy. He had tracked her to the woods, and left Zinger just inside the line of woods to make travel easier. He thought he would go up a nearby tree to keep his eye on Nissa. Hopefully he would be able to catch this bandit without much violence, but he had to consider all options.
