Can I adopt Arrow? I would like to make some changes to his profile, flesh it out a little bit.

If you plan on making changes, there is no need to ask to adopt at this stage. Just post your version of the biography, and I'll understand that you wish to adopt the character.

I just wanted to claim him before someone else does. I am too sleepy to make the changes right now. Will do so tomorroe.

As stated in the Adopt a Character thread, users may not reserve or stake a claim to adoptable characters. This rule is in place to allow everyone a fair chance at adopting the characters they want. We wouldn't want someone to claim all the good characters, would we?

I guess I am confused. I thought the rules said that to claim a character you post that you want that character on the character's profile. Which is what I did.
Maybe we should take another look at your rules and see if it is just me, or if they could possibly be written with a bit more clarification to reflect exactly what you mean.

Name: Arrow Silvertongue
Age: 19 (in year 658 [2012])
Gender: Male
Profession: Ranger Apprentice / Grizzly Mercenary (captive)
Appearance: Arrow has long wolfish white hair and forest green eyes. He keeps a small braid under the bulk of his hair down the behind his left ear which is decorated with black and green glass beads and two small gray feathers. On the top of his head his hair is only a couple of inches long and sticks up in an unruly fashion adding to his wild look. He is lean and wiry and his face is long and angular with pronounced cheekbones. His skin is pale giving him an almost ghostly or eerie look that tends to make people shy away from him. He is moderately tall and lithe and moves silently, almost as if he is floating over the ground. He wears different shades of pale green clothing that helps him blend in with the leaves and matches his ranger cloak. He carries a double scabbard with a saxe knife and a throwing knife as well as a blade up his right sleeve and one in his left boot. He has a 60 pound longbow and gray fletched arrows with green mottled shafts. His back quiver is made from dark green pigskin and he has matching dark green leather boots that go up to his knees and lace up the front. The big toe of each boot is split and the sole is soft to allow easier climbing up trees and walls. He wears his weapons on his person all the time even when he is asleep. His most prized weapon, however, is a saber with a black wood and leather scabbard that hangs from his left hip.
Personality:When he first meets people Arrow is reserved, but once you get to know him he can be very open and kind. His good looks and shy attitude usually attracts the girls, but he's never interested. He does not trust girls or understand them and even harbors a little bit of fear of women. He doesn't have many friends, but he is very loyal to the few friends he has and he would give his life for them. Arrow's a true prodigy, and learns things very quickly and because of this he does have a tendency to look down on people and be a little condescending. He is also honest and trustworthy if people give him the chance. Because many people find him a little bit strange, he has grown a shell for protection and doesn’t let very many people inside it for fear of being ridiculed and hurt. He often uses sarcasm and his quick wit to turn people away before they can hurt him emotionally. He is terrified of fire and will not build a campfire unless someone’s life was depending on it for warmth or food.
History:When Arrow was a newborn, the Baron of Highcliff found the kid lying in a patch of leaves in the forest, clutching a broken arrow. There had been signs of a struggle nearby and upon investigating, the Baron discovered that the baby’s parents had been killed, most likely by outlaws. He took him to the ward, not being able to leave him alone in the northern forest with winter coming on. Having no other name to go by, the Baron named him Arrow. For weeks the Baron searched for relatives of the baby but the only thing he ever found out was that a family that had recently moved to Highcliff was missing. They were not well-known in the fief and the only name he could find was Silvertongue.
Arrow grew up in the ward, often teased and tormented by the other children. He liked to spend his time in the woods and was continually in trouble for breaking curfew and not performing his chores. He hated the confines of the ward and as he got older he spent more and more time away, waiting for the day when he felt he was able to care for himself and would set out on his own. At the age of 15, the Baron surprised him, having kept an eye on him over the years, and gave Arrow the chance to become a ranger apprentice. Arrow didn’t really know much about the rangers, only that they were both feared and respected by the villagers. Facing a life of wandering and perhaps the undesirable threat of stealing to survive, Arrow thought he would at least give the apprentice thing a try and so he agreed.
Most of his first year as an apprentice he was with Ranger Albion and he grew to love and trust the crusty old ranger. He was a quick study and grew very proficient with his bow and throwing knives. He wanted to learn more about fighting with knives and pushed Albion to give him lessons in swordplay, but the ranger said he had too much else to concentrate on for now. “Maybe later in your training we can squeeze in some lessons with a rapier or something,” Albion told him and Arrow stopped asking for a while.
Then Albion had some personal business to attend to and took a leave of absence from the Ranger Corps and Arrow was temporarily assigned to Ranger Patrick Palisade just as the war was breaking out in Tuscano. They were sent over to Gallica, along with Patrick’s apprentice, Tory Waterton. Arrow and Tory were like oil and water and fought constantly on the ship to Gallica. Once there they were immediately immersed in the plot of the Grizzlies to take over the main port of Gallica, La Rivage. Patrick sent Arrow out into the city on a special assignment and that was when things went terribly wrong and Arrow’s life suddenly took another direction. He was captured by the Grizzlies and shunted off to Teudtlandt to begin his unwanted training as a Grizzly mercenary. He finally got his wish to learn swordplay and was highly trained with the saber, a long, slightly curved blade that was sharp all along the bottom edge up to the point and back about 10 inches on the top side of the blade. It was a horseman’s weapon and favored among the middle-eastern warriors and Arrow was now deadly accurate with it. Although he chafed at being a captive of the Grizzlies, he quickly learned their game and how to work the system and rose through the ranks until he was trusted enough to be sent out into the field on assignments. After three years he was finally being sent back to Araluen to scout for the Grizzlies. Now could be his chance to escape.
Other: Arrow’s horse is a shaggy light gray colt named Shadow. This is the same horse he left Araluen with and that he was riding at the time of his capture with the Grizzlies in Gallica.
He now wears the bronze ranger apprentice oak leaf and the Grizzly paw pendants around his neck. Both are kept tucked in under his tunic and are rarely visible to the public.

Excellent! I love the transformation and the direction you are taking him. I approve this adoption and did a little research for you. According to Delivering Dispatches reply #3 paragraph 3, Arrow named his mount Shadow.

You know I thought that was what he was calling his horse, and I almost put that down, but then I thought maybe it was Spirit or Ghost. So it was on Delivering Dispatches? Where is the thread that had Arrow joining up with Patrick? It was seperate from the one with Tory I think, until we got over to Scouting Ahead.
Anyway, thanks for accepting the changes. As I recall Will was playing him a lot like a sullen teenager that was kind of a know it all, impatient and condescending. I jsut wish I could find that thread...
