Profession: Bard
Appearance:
Mance is a slim man, long legged and lean, smaller in the chest and shoulders. His long black hair hung down the sides of his head and neatly covered his ears. Laughter lines appear at the corner of his mouth, and his grey eyes seem to look like the dark winter fog. His skin is worn and weathered, with callouses on his hand from playing the guitar. He almost always wears a striped red and black cloak, with many pieces of jewelry and oramental equipment, such as jeweled daggers and rings.Personality:
Mance is friendly, quick to laugh, quick to smile, quick to grin. He always loves to reach for his guitar and brighten up a room, and gains great joy from giving other people happiness. He is a womanzier, a dancer, a singer, a poet, but yet he is a warrior- fighting with a Damascus steel sword, created with rare wootz from Arridi. He only fights to defend himself and always bends to authority, never wanting to create trouble. Mance often travels alone.History:
Mance grew up as a ward of Meric fief. He was told his parents were killed in a boating accident, and was taken on by a traveling group of mummers. He was trained to play the guitar, to juggle, to make jokes, and to have fun. Eventually the organizer of the actors retired, and the various talented people traveled to and fro. Mance was 18 at the time, and decided to move back to Meric. He got a home and a job as a man-at-arms, training with a very rare sword from a very rich (and very drunk) Arridi nobleman. Eventually he went back to the bards life, traveling from inn to inn and having fun.Additional Information:
Damascus steel is a steel that was used in swordmaking some time ago in the real world, from the medieval period up to a unspecified time where the technique was lost. It had the odd side effect of leaving patterns reminiscent of flowing water on the blade. Mance wears padded leather when predicting trouble, and almost always wears a teared black cloak, repaired with red satin. When playing, he wears modest clothes and often takes off his high boots.
