(that is about what Tandar's grizzly rolled against Brandwyn - only a back wound - thus the severity of her injury...)
Yeah, Ouch! Good thing Tandar hasn't had a chance to get attached to poor Thomas...

Srry for intruding, but I was wondering how you got the dice to roll. I clicked on the crossed swords, but all it said was 1 Fumble (attacker drops weapon, trips, string breaks etc.) both before and after I posted it. Am I doing something wrong? Probably. Most likely. Wouldn't doubt it. Possitively. Forget the previous question and please focus on this one(lol.): What am I doing wrong?

no, you are not messing anything up. Tandar took of the numbers so that no one could cheat and make stuff up.
We staff have the list with the numbers (I think) so if you post what you rolled, we could look it up and see what the number is.
If you want the die roll to show up, you should speak with Tandar about it. He might change it if you present a good arguemnt.
then again, he might not. grin!

The numer's not even showing up. All it says is [battle]
Wait. What? [about the die roll and Tandar]

Wait, I don't understand this. How do you do it? I mean the battle and stuff. *confused*

1 Fumble (attacker drops weapon, trips, string breaks etc.)
Mmm, It appears that it is not funcitoning properly at this time.
Tandar or Aya is going to have to fix it.
___
Basically there are two ways to do the battles. Most of the time you can just type what your character is doing (take a look at Dougal and Katrina's sparring match in "assembling army" on the Araluen board to get an idea.).
You can type in what you character would like to have happen in the battle. You want to do an action and then let the other person do an action and go back an forth.
Generally this is the best way to battle.
However, if you are setting out to actually kill another person's character, you need to use the "die roll" or "combat button" (that currently is not working right). This will make sure that it is fair between the players and decided by random luck.
Plus, if you intend to kill a character, the owner of that character must agree to being killed. Otherwise, whatever wounds they get they will recover from eventually. You cannot just go in and sneak up on someone and stab them and kill them without them being aware of it or agreeing to it. (Think about it, would you want someone to do that to your charcter?)
Anyway, that is the only time it is required to use the combat dice roll. To get to it, you have to hit the reply button at the bottom of each post and that will open the expanded reply box where you get the smiley faces and the font changes and a bunch of other stuff. Currently the combat button is not working and all you will see is the word "attack" with a red X next to it. But usually you see a button with crossed swords.
Personally I think Tandar should put up a dice roll and a combat button, because there are other times when you might want to roll a chance that something happens. (example, there is a 30 percent chance I will fall in this pit if I try to jump it. I roll the dice and if it hits a 1, 2 or 3 on a 10 sided die, then I fall into the pit, otherwise I make the jump across.) But then I am used to playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D) where you do stuff like that all time.
Hope this didn't confuse you more.

randomly testing the attack button... please ignore...
4 Right arm (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
and then
4 Right arm (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
then I
4 Right arm (light damage – flesh wound, bruise)
Just seeing if different stuff comes up... It is showing (battle) on the post before I actually post it...

19 Neck (severe damage – deep cut, broken vertebrae, throat pierced)
still testing...
Ok, looks like it is working, but you don't know what it is until you post it.
Plus it seems to do the same damage in each post, so you have to make different posts for each strike.

You will not see the number on the die roll (like 11 or 3 or something). All you will see is the result of your hit.
10 Glancing blow (very little to no damage inflicted)
It does not take into account that your opponent is wearing armor, so if they are, you would want to make the damage less severe than what the roll gives you.
Scratch that earlier about it not working right. Only thing not working right on mine is the picture of the cross diced is not there - probably being blocked by the firewall here at work.

Oh, and you will notice that you get some options:
19 Neck (severe damage – deep cut, broken vertebrae, throat pierced)
what that means is that you can pick one of the three types of damage. Such as above, you can say that you broke your oppenents neck OR if you are using a knife or arrow, that you pierced their throat or if you are using a sword or other slashing type weapon like an axe that you gave them a very deep cut on their neck.
What you choose will be determined by what weapon you are using.
Does that make sense?
