It makes sense, but I just have to ask:
You cannot just go in and sneak up on someone and stab them and kill them without them being aware of it or agreeing to it. (Think about it, would you want someone to do that to your charcter?) (OOC: I'd but a box around it like Tandar did earlier to show that it wasn't written by me, but I'm not a computer nerd like he is. hahaha. That's for going to take MY computer back on Tuesday lol :-) Anyways, the bold was written by Brandwyn.
The question (I've finally got to it. hahaha) is this: Not even if your character's a traitor and noone knows he's a traitor and then he sees an oppurtunity and decides to take it? I mean, if this happened (yes, that includes to my characters too), I'd so be for it because it makes it more realistic. I mean, if you roll the dice, it's not always fatal is it?

Very easy, actually. Just press quote at the box.

Ivory: No, not even if your character is a traitor. Your character can "sneak" up on another character - However as players, you must notify the other player and a staff member of your intent to kill that character before you make that post with your character. Sending the other player a personal message (PM) is the best way to do that.
Actually on the dice roll, nothing comes up as fatal, though a character could die from a broken neck or severe wound to the torso, etc. We left it open for the players to intrepret and decide just how badly hurt their character is.
(Example: Brandwyn got a severe damage to back: broken bone [under the old table Aya made up that is no longer in effect]. Tandar chose to have the Grizzly stab her deeply in the back right next to her spine rather than making it a broken back. If he had chosen the broken back, then my character would have been unable to continue her mission and I would not be able to play her for the months it would take for her to heal. {thus the favor I now owe him})
Cutebabys: It is not a real "roll" of the die. Here is what to do:
1. before you make your post, hit the reply button to open the expanded reply box. You can find this button in the dark bluish/gray box at the bottom of the previous post in that thread. It also appears when you start a new thread. It opens a box that has smiley faces in and the spell checker is at the bottom. (Are you having trouble finding this button and opening the box?)
2. You type in who you intend to attack. (example: Brandwyn attacks Tandar.)
3. you click on the combat button just under the smiley faces at the top of the reply box, towards the right side of the row.
When you click, the word 9 Torso front (light damage – flesh wound, bruise) should appear at that point in your post.
4. You hit the "post reply" button
then when you go back and look at the post, it will say something like: (right leg, minor damage)
To avoid these interupting the main part of the story, we put the combat posts in a seperate thread on the chat board - thus the thread "combat rolls for scouting ahead".
Still got questions?

When you say staff members, do you mean anyone on the staff or just the moderators or just the administrators? And what if you're attacking a staff member's character, do you have to notify another staff member? [battle] Still doesn't work. It's the button with the crossed swords right?

[battle] How do you chose who to attack? Can someone post an attack for me? I mean, like the proper one.

You pick who you want to attack I'm guessing from reading the other posts.

16 Torso front (severe damage – deep cut, vital organ pierced, ribs broken) Its not very reliable, works sometimes, sometimes not.

I give up. Computers really do hate me. Blasted things. And here I was thinking we were somewhat friends. Hmpf. Well, I don't care anyways. And I'm SO changing those words at the bottom of my posts. :-P

yeah, it is the crossed swords button.
I am trying it again:
15 Right leg (severe damage – deep cut, bone breakage)
I am not sure what the deal is with it. Perhaps there is something on your computer that is blocking it from working. No idea really.
I bet Tandar can figure it out.
Cutebabys, you just choose who you are attacking based on what is going on in your story at the time.
If you read around pages 3 to 5 or in 'Scouting Ahead' you will see the battle along the trail. We used the die rolls for that battle. That should give you a better picture of how the system works.
There are some logical ways to determine who you are attacking: Basically if someone attacks your character, then you are going to attack them back. Or if you are going after someone say as a bounty hunter and you catch up with them, then that is who you are going to attack.
Hope that makes sense.

Well the combat button worked for me again.
Yep, Ivory. I think your computer hates you! LOL
10 Glancing blow (very little to no damage inflicted)

*sigh* It is the button with the crossed swords right?
My luck I'd be pushing the wrong button. :-(
