Kadara sat on a low fisherman's dock, soaking her feet in the water of the ocean. The sun was setting, painting the sky a dark orange as La Rivage descended into night. She had no targets to kill tonight, so none of her plans really involved moving from this spot. The thought brought a small grin to her face.
Then she sighed. She moved her hand up to her neck, running her fingers across the beaded necklace hanging there. Her only regret.
She looked around. The last of the fishermen were leaving for the night and paid little attention to her. It's not as though it was uncommon for people to come and do what she was doing. Not all of them stole food and supplies from unattended boats, however. Kadara, in her brief moments of peaceful thought, liked to think that that's what set her apart from the others.
((And now I wait for someone else to join... Whee...))

Badger weaved through the shadows as if he were one of them. His training as a Ranger had seen to it that he was. His already foul mood increased as he remembered the set-up. Now because of him he was fleeing from his pride and honor. Unable to head back to Araluen and put those he was fighting to protect at risk, he was forced to flit from place to place, tracking the jerk who'd sent him into this lifestyle.
He stole now as much as the next theif, though he hated to call himself one. He'd found over the two years that he'd been on the hunt, that boats were easier targets for a man like him. He needed to stay in practice and swiming in dark waters and climbing up the sides of boats gave him that.
Eyes hard, he scanned the surrounding shadows. He didn't believe that anyone else would think to steal from boats, but his training had taught him to expect the unexpected. Satisfied that there was no one there, he moved his gaze across the docks. The majority of the fishermen were leaving, but there was one figure sitting as if frozen on one of them.
Badger gave the silhoutte a once over before circling around. It seemed there'd be a slight change in his plans. He'd come in from the opposite side and swim toward them instead of just heading off the dock.
He slipped into the water without a sound, moving slowly until it was up to his chin. He took a deep breath and walked the rest of the way under before bending his knees and pushing out as he swam. The water was a little murker, but he was used to making out figures in such a sight and he easily made his way to the boats. He tesurfaced a few times to catch his breath before sinking back under once again.

Kadara looked out onto the water. She heard a sound and looked down. It was getting dark and she couldn't see anything in the water. She shrugged to herself. Probably just a fish, she thought. Even so, she let the dagger hidden up her sleeve slide down her arm, just in case. She didn't want to be jumped on the first night she had off in weeks.

Badger resurfaced for the last time at the boat he'd picked out earlier. The captain was a burly man who didn't care much for anyone but himself. It was time, Badger figured, for justice to be served.
He pulled himself up the anchor's rope. He gritted his teeth as the rope cut into his hands, but they had toughened enough over time that they didn't crack and bleed. He released his hand from the rope and gripped the side of the ship before pulling his other one up beside it. He eased his head over the top to take a quick look around and satisfied that there weren't anyone in his range of vision, he hauled the rest of him up and over. He frowned at the pool of water he was tracking, but even in a year, he hadn't found a solution to that problem. All he could do was hurry up and get this over with so he could eat tonight and hopefully, for the next month if he could get his hands on the right objects.

Kadara yawned and stood up. Maybe she would be able to get a full night's sleep tonight... right after stealing some food. She walked to the nearest boat and hopped the railing, stepping onto the deck. She looked around in satisfaction, none to be seen... Except for a soaking wet man who couldn't possibly be a sailor. She took a few steps towards him, keeping the dagger close to her hand. "Hey there, stranger."

Badger muttered a curse as he faced the caller, hand slipping to his waste to the saxe knife. Or rather, the place where it would've been had he not decided to go swimming. He hadn't wanted the blade to rust so he'd removed his belt and hid it upon land before slipping into the water. He knew how to kill with his hands, but would rather take comfort in the grip of his knives.
His gaze swept over her body, noting the bulges of her clothes where weapons most likely sat, before meeting her eyes. He doubted that the owner of this boat took to female crewmembers, or rather, female crewmembers took to him.
"Hey there yourself, stranger." He paused before saying the last word, calling her out on her role her as a sailor.

Kadara, putting on her most seductive expression, slowly walked over to Badger until they were no more than two feet away from each other. She looked him in the eyes, examining his facial features. "Now, what do you think you're doing here?"

He took a quick step back as his eyes hardened in a glare. Women, he learned, especially those that seemed to be on the waring side of yours, were trickier than men, and in some cases, deadlier. He wished again for his set of blades, even his quiver so he could stab her with an arrow.
"What do you think?" he asked as he continued to glare at her. "Probably doing the same thing you are. How about we both cut the crap, get what we want, and part ways. Or better yet, go find another boat." He itched to turn his back on her, but didn't trust her enough to not stick a knife in it.

Kadara frowned in mock distress. "Oh, come on, big guy. It's not like we can't make a little deal here. I mean, look at the situation. You're obviously a man in need and me? I'm... Well, I'm a woman in power. Think about it." She smiled, winking at him.

He looked at her in disgust before turning around and heading for the entrance to belowdeck. He figured his reflaxes were fast enough to block an attack coming from behind. "Whatever," he called over his shoulder. "Just stay out of my way."
He disappeared inside and headed for the pantry. Though his stomach growled, he resisted the urge to eat then and there, lowering his time to grab anything else, especially since he had 'company'. He pocketed the food before heading to the cabin, figuring that all the really good items would be there.

Kadara followed him around. She recognized how he walked, how he acted. That was the kind of thing a ranger did. He interested her. "If you listen to me, you'll never have to steal food again," she said, trying to corner him in the cabin.

He glared at her. Too bad killing her would take too much time. Not on the actually deed, but on the cleaning up the mess.
"I'm not interested. Now find someone else to bug."
He tried to move past her, but found that he couldn't unless he used force. So he glared at her as if doing so would actually get her to move and let him past.

Kadara smirked. "I know your type. I know why you're here. You know I'm right. Accept my help." She shifted her hips a little, testing whether or not sex appeal would affect his judgment at all. It worked most of the time, even on rangers. They were still men, after all.

Badger's eyes lowered to her hips before he managed to jerk them back up to her face in an even fiercer glare than before. He felt a pang of guilt at the movement and his anger hardened.
"I said I wasn't interested and I meant it. Now get out of my way before someone comes."
He moved to move past her, deciding on using force if necessary when he heard something on deck. Footsteps. He cursed silently before grabbing her wrist and pulling her across the room. He tried to keep her quiet as he shoved her underneath the desk and followed after. He didn't want to be anywhere close to her, but he couldn't very well leave her out in the open. She'd probably rat him out if she were caught.

Kadara sighed, smiling, and rolled her eyes. This isn't how I work, ranger." She stood up, sliding the dagger out of her sleeve and into her hand. She emerged out onto the deck, looking around for whoever made the footsteps they'd heard.
