Kadara lunged one dagger at one of them men advancing on her, lodging the blade deep in his throat. Then she spun around, swiping her remaining dagger across another man's chest. It sent him stumbling back, over a rock. He lay unconscious on the ground. "How's it going over there?" she shouted to Badger.

As if she actually cared, he thought dryly as the two men began to circle him. He was definitely screwed.
He tried to step between them and focus on both of them at the same time, but they stepped in every time he tried, effectively cutting him off.
They swun their weapons at the same time, one at his head and the other at his waist. Grateful for his training whipping up on his speed, he dropped to the ground. His hands released the knives they'd held as he palmed the floor just as he kicked his legs straight out behind him, flexing his muscles to keep him off the ground. Not wanting to stay in that open position for long, he swung his legs to the right, twisting his body to follow, and lifting and replacing his hands upon the ground. As the man crashed to the forest floor, he grabbed his throwing knife and lunged on top of him. He went to stab the man in the neck, but a clean elbow to his chin had him rolling off. He didn't bother rolling back into a standing position but launched himself at the other man's feet as soon as he came upon his toes. The man he'd just tripped was scrambling to his feet as Badger attacked his companion and was yet not a threat.
Cheesemen (OOC: Badger's last name) twisted to the side as the man's foot lashed out to connect with his face, barely missing a broken nose. His right arm snaked out and he plunged his throwing knife deep into the man's shin. He wasn't able to rip it out in time and keep with his momentum so he released his hold on the handle and hit the ground with his right shoulder, coming up in a roll.
The man screamed as he collapsed and Badger rose and Cheesemen spun on his heels to face the last one of his attackers. Though without a weapon, he was far from defenseless, just at a clear disadvantage.
He hadn't flicked his attention over to the woman, but he figured she was holding up fine enough as she'd asked him a question earlier. With any luck, she would be harmed just enough for him to be able to leave her without her following him.

Kadara frowned at the lack of response from Badger. She noticed the one remaining enemy and quickly jogged over to him, tapping him on the shoulder lightly. He turned away from Badger and she plunged her last dagger into his chest. The man fell over and lay still after writhing in agony for a few seconds. "Excellent. See? You need me. With your luck, you're going to die a slow and painful death at the hands of some very angry fishermen," she said, smiling.

He glared at her. "I would've been fine," he growled as he went to retrieve his fallen knives. He kept his front to her at all times though, still not trusting her. "I don't even know your name, let alone what you do. Same for you." His eyes narrowed in wonder, "Do you ask random people to help you? What if you asked the wrong person, what then?" He didn't care to think on why he cared if she put herself in harms way or not.

Kadara raised her brow at the questions. She stroked her chin for a moment, contemplating lying to the man, but decided against it, knowing what good lie detectors most rangers were. "My name is Kadara and I don't ask random people for help. I ask interesting people for help... And at the moment, I'm offering to help you. You can deny needing me all you want. The fact is, you're soaked to the bone and very hungry. I just to happen so have in my possession, clean clothes and fresh food." She paused for a moment and then continued, trying to put to rest something he might be worrying about. "Thinking I might kill you? Think about it, ranger. How many opportunities to kill you and dump your body where no one will ever find it have I had since we met?"

He glared at her, but he saw her sense and his stomach was growing since it hadn't had a decent meal in months. He was cold and wet and the previous fight had drained him of a lot of energy he didn't even have. Maybe just one night.
The decision hadn't come easily and he gave a sharp jerk of his head before cleaning his blades off in the grass and sliding them back home in their sheaths at the double scabbard at his waste.
"Lead the way then, but I'm not accepting anything else except food."
He ignored the voice in his mind telling him that a good pay might help him greatly. He'd find the man himself, he didn't need any help, especially from her.

Kadara smiled at him. "Good," she said quietly. She walked away from the camp and into town silently, checking every few minutes to see if Badger was still following her. He would be useful if she could get him to join the guild. But rangers were very stubborn when it came to good and bad. It would take some work. They arrived at town quite inconspicuously, seeing as everyone who was still awake was down at the docks investigating the boat fire. They walked down the road for a long time until they took a sharp turn into an alley, entering a maze of houses which Kadara navigated easily. She wondered if the ranger would be able to find his way out. Soon enough, the came to a little house that would appear cozy enough from the outside, though inside was another matter entirely. The interior of the building was filled with fine furniture and expensive luxuries. Some things that she bought, some that she stole and others that she killed to get. Once they were safely inside, Kadara turned to Badger and said, "What do you think?"

Badger was lost within minutes. He'd only entered La Rivage last night and hadn't had time to look around. He hadn't planned on it either, since his usual tactic was to get in, steal what he needed, and disappear back into the shadows without leaving anyone anything to go by.
It didn't stop him from trying to memorize the route though, but his thoughts were a little distracted. He doubted that whatever the woman fingered in was anything morally good and if he shoudl really even accept anything from her. It was probably stolen in the first place. He frowned as his suspicion was confirmed in his eyes as he entered her house.
"What do you think?"
"It's all stolen," he said with a quick look around, obviously not thinking well of her. "How long have you been in the business?" He'd decided that if he was going to take part of her wealth, he might as well figure out a way to put most of it back to their rightful owners. So he fetched the waters for something to use to take up the myraid trails she'd no doubt trekked across.

Kadara laughed, sitting in a large armchair by the empty fireplace. "That depends what business you think I'm in, ranger." She turned away from him for a moment, thinking off nothing particular, then turned back to him. "You know, you haven't told me your name. I told you mine and I'm giving you a place to stay. It's only fair."

"That depends what business you think I'm in, ranger."
"Nothing good," he said to her back as she turned away from him. He stood glaring at her backside with his arms at his side. Crossing them might have given him a more 'threatening' look, but would hardly have helped had he needed to get to his weapons in a hurry. He didn't doubt she was quick though he'd never seen her fight. He knew he should've taken the opportunity in the woods, but he'd been preoccupied at the time and just hadn't. But he'd learned that the less serious seemed to be, the more menacing they were. They could strike when no one expected them too, hide their dangerous side behind a quick smile that reached their eyes.
"You know, you haven't told me your name. I told you mine and I'm giving you a place to stay. It's only fair."
She'd turned back around and he felt himself tensing in preparation for an attack, but when none came, he relaxed...barely.
His answer though came none too quickly and none to slow. He'd perfected the art of lying and with ease he told her the name he was currently going by, "The only reason I'm telling you is because it is fair and unlike some people," he made it all too clear who 'some people' were as he inclined his head toward her, "I know right from wrong." He didn't pause before adding, "Name's Geoffrey. You want a last name, you'll have to tell me yours."
His run in two years ago had forced him to take up a new name so he couldn't be as easily tracked. He had to change it twice over that time when his enemy was getting too close to his liking. He moved constantly and made painstaking chooses to keep in the shadows except for when closing in on his target.
And even if he did trust her, which he didn't in the slightest, he wouldn't have told her his real name anyways, not when he was in such a dangerous predicment. He wouldn't have wanted to put a trusted friend in danger when his foe started to close in on him again.

"Geoffrey... Geoffrey, Geoffrey, Geoffrey... I like it. It's strong," she said, speaking to no one in particular, just toying with the sound. She stood up and made her way across the room to the pantry, revealing a loaf of bread and some cheese. "Help yourself," she said, placing them on the table. She then proceeded to the large wardrobe in the corner, revealing dry clothes. She selected a tunic and trousers that looked like they would fit him. She placed them on the table as well. "Change into these. You're wet and filthy, you know," she said playfully. "I won't look... promise." She winked seductively.

Now why didn't he trust her? he thought with a scowl as he snatched the clothes from his finger and headed toward the nearest door. He didn't care if it was a closest, he wasn't changing in front of her. He pressed his back to the door so she wouldn't be able to push it open before quickly removing his clothes and placing 'hers' back on. He scowled in disgust, figuring that they were probably stolen. He'd figure out a way to pay whoever she'd stolen from back, he promised to himself.

Kadara, waiting for Badger for finish changing, realized that her own clothes were quite filthy as well. She quickly changed, taking the opportunity to replace the daggers hidden on her person as well, most of which were left impaled in the men at the camp. "So, what's a Ranger like yourself doing stealing from fishing boats?" she asked loudly so that she would be heard through the door.

He'd heard her question well enough, he just refused to answer. He thought briefly about slipping out but banned it from his mind as his stomach growled.
Cheesemen (Badger's last name) opened the door and walked out after having grabbed his clothes. He'd wear these only until his dried and he'd stay only until his stomach was half-way satisfied. He wouldn't gorge himself on someone else's food - he never did, even if that food had belonged to someone like the captain. Ex-captain he reminded himself as his jaw tightened in an increase of anger.
"Can we just eat?"

((okay, lol))
Kadara rolled her eyes. "I put the food out, didn't I? I'm not hungry. You eat." She made her way to a window facing the sea, looking out, feeling the breeze on her face. She clutched her necklace and looked back out of the corner of her eye at Badger. Maybe he knew him? But she didn't even know his name.
