I think anyone who wants their character to follow a different religion should justify it and have to have a mod give it the okay. Can't have crazy ridiculous religions running around just because the person doesn't feel like following the standard. They should have a reason.

No decision has been made yet. We are waiting for Tandar to come back and review this. Meanwhile, any interested persons are welcome to voice their concerns or opinions on the subject of allowing religion (whatever religions - doesn't matter) here so we, the staff, can get an idea of how everyone feels and so you, the members, can present arguements for or against allowing religion in Halt's Playground.
So, post away! - (the subject is religion - not world domination) (Just trying to keep you on the subject.)

I think pagan religions should be allowed because they've been around for a while. It's practically the blessings/worshiping of nature and though it has its rituals it's not an 'evil' craft like many *cough cough Hollywood* make it out to be.

Oh and I think we should allow some sort of Christianity so I don't have to go back and change everything in Adrian's journal. *grin* I know, I'm lazy. lol. But seriously, that's a lot of stuff I'll have to correct...*grin*

[nice Christianity. *dryly*]
Seriously though, I think we should add it because a lot of us used 'god' and whatnot.

This is the final word regarding any sort of religion, witchcraft, or sorcery:
I'd like for us to stay away from specific religions. It's fine to use "God" or to even have your character pray or worship. However, let's not mention any religions, and I'd like to keep this kind of thing to a minimum.
Since witchcraft and sorcery didn't actually produce any real effects, I don't see why you would want it. Anyway, you cannot cast spells because magic does not exist. If you wanted to try to fake something like the "wizard" did in book 5, then you may attempt to do so. That's as close as you're gonna get to magic.
I don't want to have to approve religions for individual characters because the staff has enough to review and look over as it is. Besides, I'd rather not bring real-world things into the Ranger's Apprentice realm. I'd like to keep it as close to the books as I can while still having fun. I'll be happy to answer any questions or respond to concerns. In the meantime, I don't think we need religion to have a good time roleplaying.
