So I was thinking that since they're so superstitious about stuff, if there could actually be a group that dealt in magic? I mean, magic was been around since like, forever - or at least the rituals and stuff for making it. It's still alive today [Wicca], so would that be allowed in here? I'm not saying where you can shoot lighting from your hands or whatever, but like simple spells and stuff? Surly they'd believe in it right? And the mind can be a powerful thing - like in that House episode where she thought she was sick so she actually was sick - the one on the plane. So is that okay?

Which House episode? And so not to get off topic, yeah, can it? I mean, they have to undergo serious trainings and their mentors in the beginning, can they be like, mods?

well, I am not sure how to call this one. The original rules that Aya put up stated not to post any religeous things to avoid fighting.
Plus I am afraid someone down the road is going to see this and think they can run around casting level 3 firebolt spells or something like in AD&D.
I would prefer to wait until Tandar is back so he and I can discuss this before making a decision.
Also, would sacrificing a person be considered a PG-13 act? It would seem to me to be more in the R-rated category.
Just some thoughts. let me think on it some more...

I talked briefly with Tandar today about this and he wants to see what you posted before making a decision, but he has similar concerns to mine.
As I mentioned earlier, one of them is that if there is witchcraft allowed, then someone down the road may interpret that to mean people can do magic spells. We want to avoid that.
Another concern is that some people may get very offended by some characters practicing witchcraft and if we allow religeon, those who are mainstream Christian may get into arguments with say Judism or Catholics or Islamic worshipers. Religion is always a hot topic and people feel very passionately about it. We are both afraid that posting much about religion will incite anger and discontent at some point.
Also, human sacrifices seem to be rather graphic, even if you don't go into much detail on them. I think that is a bit more than what we want on here right now.
Now, perhaps if we end up doing the higher rating board, we might allow this on that one. But we will have to discuss it among the staff and let you know.
Thanks! B

I think that people who want to role play and get angry when the religious beliefs of the rp don't match their own shouldn't be role playing.

Good point. If either of you would like to argue your case, now is your chance. Tandar said he would review this when he gets back. So now is your chance to convince us why it should be allowed and tell us exactly what you had in mind.

The fact of the matter is, role playing is entering into a completely different world. A different culture, a different setting, full of people (both IC and OOC) who have different standards and beliefs.
If a person can't handle a religious discussion that may not fully agree with their beliefs, that should be intelligent enough to stay out of it. Religion is a hot topic. If anything, we SHOULD talk about it just to get it out of the way. It's important in all of our lives. If people are bothered or offended by discussion about other religions, then they're just immature and shouldn't be on a forum with people from all around the world who undoubtedly come from very different cultures.
When it comes to religion IC. I don't think it is or even could be an issue. We're using logic and reason to decide that because the entire story is based on a time and place that was majorly Catholic with a lot of suspicion of black arts and witchcraft, our in-game religion should resemble that as well. If anything, it would be a shame to deny that aspect of their life because religion is so important to so many people. We'd be missing a possibly huge component in some or maybe even MANY characters' back stories.
