(OOC: Tandar, here is what I came up with for the plot. Please feel free to modify it as you see fit. Brandy)
War in Gallica
Setting:
Southeastern edge of Gallica along the border with Toscano where the gently rolling hills of Gallica give way to the grassy plains of Toscano.
What is currently happening:
The Toscano army has been pushed back to their western border by the massive Aslavian army that swept across the plains. Toscano has managed to slow down Aslava’s advance and bring it to a grinding halt, but have lost their entire country in the process.
Refugees from Toscano are fleeing into Gallica, Alpina and Iberion and some even setting sail into Araluen and Celtica. They are spreading fear throughout the lands they cross by telling of the horror they have been through. Most of them are fleeing with nothing more than the clothes on their back.
Toscano has sent out diplomats to several of the surrounding countries asking for help. Alpina has already declared they will not leave their mountain homes. They believe themselves safe due to the terrain.
Iberion is already marching to their aid, knowing they will be the next to fall after Gallica.
Some in Gallica are riding to the border to join the fighting, but Gallica is notorious for it’s lack of cohesion and they need a strong leader to unify them or they will quickly fall if Toscano cannot hold Aslava.
No one has heard anything out of Teutlandt yet.
In Araluen:
The King of Araluen has just received some vague reports of the unusual activity in Gallica when the Diplomat from Toscano arrives and asks for his help. He understands the threat to Araluen if Gallica falls and is moving quickly to assemble an army and get it across Gallica before it is too late.
Meanwhile, he is sending diplomats to Skandia and Hibernia and Celtica to ask them to fight with Araluen and meet in Gallica.
Rangers are being asked to aid their fiefs in recruiting soldiers for the army and send them to Araluen (capitol) to sail down the river and across the sea to Gallica.
The King is requisitioning all ships he can get his hands on to carry the army across the sea to Gallica.
Rangers are being sent out to Teutlandt, Skandia and Alpina to find out if those countries are assembling armies yet and if not, to encourage those leaders to do so and come to Toscano’s aid before it is too late to stop Aslava.
Rangers are also being sent into Toscano and Aslava to get intelligence on the enemy’s forces.
How does this work?
Pick something from the above, or make up your own that fits in the plot and start a thread on it. Invite one, two or many to join you.
There are opportunities here for just about all the characters to become involved somewhere. Diplomats, Scouts, Rangers, Knights, Scribes, pretty much everyone should be able to find something to do with this plot if they want to.
Play off of what is going on in other threads – if your characters would know about it. (Such as the Royal Scouts leaving the main force of the army to scout ahead into Toscano because of a report a ranger and an apprentice brought back to the King. Someone in one thread could be playing the scouts, and someone else in another thread could be playing the rangers.)
Let the fighting begin!
