Adrian rolled over in his sleep, lifted a hand at Ali's voice and let it drop down be gravitational force. He'd never woken. Still asleep, he began to snore.
His dreams were so sweet. Of course they were. Margariette was in them. Margariette...

"Ahhhh!" Adrian came up swinging in shock from his wakeup call and shot a glare at Ali as he slowly came fully awake. He didn't say anything though before giving his head a rough shake and throwing off his covers...only to realize that he didn't have any covers. He ducked his head in embarrassment because of th gesture and climbed clumsily to his feet. He was definitely not a morning person.
He rubbed a bit of sleep from his eyes and asked, his words kind of slurred, "Wha diya find?" He let out a giant yawn before stretching and then peering around for Lucky. Seeing him, he grunted and headed over before looking in the ground. "It sa chess." Another yawn. "So wha?" He aimed his last question at Ali. "Can I go bata 'ed now?" Without even waiting for an answer he was heading back to his 'bed'.

Adrian moaned as he stopped and slowly turned back around to head back toward the chest...or rather, whatever was in it. He blinked a few times to clear up his vision before mumbling, "I have no idea. What do you think it is?"
In truth, he didn't know what it was considering he wasn't really paying attention. All he wanted was to go back to sleep. Was that too much to ask? Sure they were stranded on an island, but this was kind of like a vacation right? And he'd never got to sleep in before. Sir Henry Lionheart of Caraway always woke him a good deal before even the rooster could crow - and the one at the castle usually crowed at the blasted moon. There was seriously something wrong with the people/animals at that place.

[Could you please put what he says in quotation marks? Srry, I used to be a grammar fanatic. *grin* So, could you? Please?]
"But we worked all day yesterday." Despite his words, he stretched and blinked the rest of his mind awake. He let out a yawn before turning toward his friend. "So, what's in the chest?" Now almost fully awake, he was kind of curious, but his sore muscles refused to let him move at the moment so he couldn't go see himself. Besides, Ali didn't look like he was as sore as Adrian was...

Adrian groaned as he peered into the hole, then bent down to open it. It wouldn't budge. He tried again. Still nothing. Man, was he tired. His muscles felt like lead. "I can't open it." Upon further inspection, he said, "There's a lock on it. We'll have to open the lock first."

Ali looked at the lock and said "it looks old mabey i can break it." so he took the flat of the saxe knife and hit the lock and after a few hits it broke. "there we go now lets see whats in the chest.

[OOC: ^-^ Thnx for the quotation marks! It makes it so much easier for me to read. *grins super duperly happily. ^-^ lol. :-)]
Adrian had to admit - at least in the dark recesses of his mind - that his sleepiness was quickly being consumed by his curiosity to see what was inside. So after Ali broke the lock, he pushed off the lid. The layers of rust made it hard pulling, but after a few minutes he finally got it...only to find it full of nothing but sand. He frowned in disappointment, then grumbled. "So much for that." He gave a disappointed shake of his head before standing and rolling his sore shoulders and neck.
"So, now what?" he asked his friend.

Adrian watched as Ali began digging through the sand and stood back, welcome to let him do all the dirty work. He wasn't being rude, simply sore from too much work. Right before the trip, Sir Henry Lionheart of Caraway had beaten him black and blue again then forced him to work with Mischief. Back to back appointments with the spawns of satan were very well over the age of tiring.
And it was only because of those that he'd grabbed at this chance to go camping like a drowing sailor, figuring he'd get at least a week of rest. Oh, did the gods just not love him. So now he was stuck on an island in who knows where working almost as hard as back home and he didn't even have the comfort of seeing Margaueritte. His face went all dreamy at the thought of her, seriously a boy seriously smitten.
So at first, he didn't even see the object being handed to him, but after a few seconds Ali's words actually formed into a sentence in his mind and in regret, he blinked Margaueritte's face from his mind and stared at the hand being offered him. Unwantingly, he took it and looked at the ring. His first question had nothing to do about the size of the rubies nor if it was real or not [for why would someone not take it?]. Rather, he asked: "Why would someone bury a hand?"

"But why would they hide it?" Adrian asked, more than a little confused. He wondered not only why, but who'd thought to hide it and for what? Was it important, really made of jewels or something, or was the ring more than just a ring? Maybe it was magic? He grew slightly uneasy around it, but not wanting to seem like a child he only showed his feelings on his face, instead of dropping it in the sand and running off as fast as he could - which considering his sore muscles wouldn't be that fast...
