Galen muttered a curse at Dalin's words. If he could hear them, he would atake his life that the person outside did too. He slithered back into the shadows, standing on the balls of his feet near the other entrance/exit. He stood in front of it to muffled any more sounds coming from that direction and wondered briefly why Jock hadn't quieted him. Either he was hurt, which he doubted since Dalin had to be talking to somone, or didn't want to hurt their captive, which he also doubted if Dalin had made that sound. So the only other option was that it hadn't been Dalin, but that didn't make sense at all, and he was sure that was his tone of voice.
He shook the confusing thoughts from his mind with a stern shake of his head and put his knife back in its sheath at his side. He didn't want any light reflecting off the blade if whoever was out there decided to come in and have his position given away before he was ready. He knew how to kill with his hands, but wanted the weapon to even the odds if the unknown also had one, which he would bet on.
So Galen touched instead the item in his pouch and satisfied that it was still there, he brought his hand back out and waited. His senses though, didn't stay trained on the front entrance that was covered with bits of grass, twig, and whatever else nature had to offer. Instead, they were focused on everything, having learned once too many times that if he paid attention to only one spot life always had a laugh at sending him danger from elsewhere. Like the last time he'd been in Teutlandt, he thought with a grimace. He definitely didn't want a repeating of that.

[ that? ] [OOC: I was doing it to Galen. The eyebrow thing I mean. And is my shoulder still dislocated?]
Dalin heard something. He was sure. He waved his undislocated arm to Greg and pointed to where it came from.

[Hey 'Dobro! Can you hurry rescue me? I tired of being stuck.]

(OOC: 'Dobro has to be careful, otherwise HE'LL get caught too--or killed. or something. never mind, if something happens to him, it'll be your fault! --just kidding...I think!)
'Dobro couldn't be sure, but he thought he heard a curse from somewhere else close by. Staying where he was he carefully thought through his options. There were at least two of them, and maybe more. If that being the case, he could do one of two things.
One: he could shoot them. The problem of that would be that he didn't know the exact location of one, and that would prove the most dangerous. Also, he might shoot his apprentice...accidentally.
Two: he could talk to them and see what kind of a mood they were in. If it was a good mood, he might be able to talk them into letting his apprentice go without any complications. If a bad mood, things could get ugly.
'Dobro debated silently over the merits of each, and finally decided upon the latter course. Leaning against one tree truck in such a way as to have an unobstructed view of the scene, he spoke. "Dalin, you are more trouble than your worth to me, but if I don't have you with me when I get back to Araluan, Crowley's gonna have my hide."
He spoke to Dalin, but mainly to the rest of his audience.

"Dalin, you are more trouble than your worth to me, but if I don't have you with me when I get back to Araluan, Crowley's gonna have my hide." Ah crap.Dalin thought. He was found. He still didn't see his mentor, but he knew where he was. He turned to where the sound came from. "I'm so... I'm so sorry..." He mumbled loudly.

"I'm so...so sorry."
Well, at least his apprentice wasn't hurt to badly. He probably wouldn't have to carry him all the way to the coast. "Are you?" he asked. He began to ooze away from his current position, being as silent as the shadows around him. He waited for a reply of some sort from the two men.

[grin]
Jock's eyes hardened at Dalin's words, but before he could move Galen called out his fake name. Understanding lit his eyes and he disappeared into the shadows. It was time to leave. They had found someone else to take care of the captive they didn't want in the first place, but couldn't leave. If he'd told them of their prescence...but they were well away now and would be further within a day. Neither did Dalin have any useful information to catch them with.
Galen's thoughts followed those of his accomplice, but ended with the item in his pouch. They didn't know they were theives, yet. No doubt if they stuck around long enough, they'd hear of their conquest.
He faded into the shadows and headed deeper down the tunnel. He walked backwards, hand on his knife, watching to see if they came after him. Jock was somewhere ahead of him, but even his trained eye couldn't spot the body of his comrade. He hoped the other two didn't either.

(OOC: Sure! Hay, by the way, Bandobro's name is actually Benardo. Sorry, it's my fault, I was thinking it was Bandobro for some reason.)
Benardo listened for a reply but did not receive one from either of the two men. He ears, trained for this very purpose, just caught the sounds of footsteps retreating from the premises. He listened awhile longer, but, after hearing nothing, finally stepped forward into the clearing. He remained on edge however, wondering why the two men had left for no apparent reason, and without a fight. He knelt next to his apprentice, keeping his ears tuned for any sounds of the two men returning.

[Geez, just save him already...]
FINALLY! Dalin thought. "Hurry up, will ya? You took long enough to fetch me." He grumbled. He was a bit scared of his mentor, though. He had seen how the ranger could shoot. However, he wasn't TOO scared. His mentor could, but wouldn't. He knew he should be expecting a telling off for his exciting yet scary experience.

Benardo had been about to relocate Dalin's shoulder, when his apprentice grumbled, "Hurry up, will ya? You took long enough to fetch me."
Benardo highly reconsidered repairing his apprentice, but in the end, repaired him all the same, growling, "Did you ever even pay attention to my dozen-lectures-a-day about getting yourself caught?"

At his words, Dalin shuffled his feet. It WAS true that he didn't exactly listen to most of the lectures.

Ben sighed-- he'd thought as much. "Well, let's get out of here." he growled resignedly. "Unless, of course, you'd like to stay?" he added sarcastically.

Dalin looked hurriedly at his mentor. Is he serious? Dalin thought. "No,no, no,no,no..." He mumbled. Now free, he ran as fast as he could, away from the place. But it was a forest, after all. Dalin stumbled on the root of one of the trees. "Ouch!"

Ben watched his apprentice take off at a run and trip over a tree root. He sighed and raised his eyes to the tree branches overhead. His apprentice. "Try slowing down and taking it easy, instead of dashing around in the dark trying to get your neck broke." he suggested, as he followed along behind. Crowley was going to pay for this. He hadn't needed it. But then.....life DID get boring on his own..

Dalin rolled his eyes. He didn't ask for a fall, he was just tired. And desperate. He had enough of this place. Now that he thought about it, he was REALLY tired. He suppressed a yawn. He hadn't been sleeping well for nights. Who would? He felt his eyelids drooping. [Amazing or not, read the next part.] The next thing he knew, he fell asleep on the spot. Standing.
